Definitive Answer Re FFN Start Date!
Last week, while the battle was raging as to who was told the accurate information concerning the start date of the latest round of the FFN promotion -- when is the earliest hotel stay you could have to earn a FFN "stay" towards earning your first free night -- I contacted Gold Passport Customer Service via e-mail on behalf of my wife, and explained to them the confusion concerning the start date, as well as the conflicting opinions given our members by thieir personnel.
Yesterday, I received an e-mail answer from a Gold Passport representative which follows below: Dear Ms. XXXX: Thank you for your recent message to Gold Passport. The Faster Free Night promotional counter will count the day of check-out. For a stay checking-in on August 31 and departing September 1, the counter will track that as one stay towards the promotion (assuming the other criteria such as eligible rate and paid with your MasterCard are in place). Just as at the end of the promotion anyone checking in on November 30 and departing December 1 the promotional counter will not track this as the check-out date is beyond the date of the promotional offer. I have forwarded your inquiry to our Gold Passport Manager for further review and you suggestion of adding to Hyatt Flyer Talk. Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to provide this valuable feedback. If we may assist you with anything further please feel free to contact Gold Passport. Kindest regards, Kay Carner Hyatt Gold Passport Hopefully, per my suggestion, this e-mail answer will be ratified by Karen later this week so that all of you could rest easy concerning a stay commencing on 8/31 -- like we have reserved in the DC area. In addition, please note the end date for earning credit -- although it is in accord with what others have written about -- GP may not be willing to manually post a credit toward a free night, if your check-out is later than Nov. 30, 2007. Hope this helps and good earnings to you all later this week! (I gave this its own thread because I thought it very importaqnt that everyone know about this, instead of having it buried in the general FFN earnings thread.) |
Thanks for the info! ^

Isn't that what I said last week? :D :D :D
I will not post the name of the person who told me, but it was someone definitely higher up the Hyatt food chain. :D |
YES!
But it now is in writing, and it is an official communication from Gold Passport. |
Wow!
With the Aug 31 confirmation my upcoming weekend in Denver will now net me:
~ 12,500 GP Points (ie. 2.5 free nights in Auckland) 2 free nights from FFN (one already held for Park Hyatt Sydney :D) So, more free nights than what I will pay for. Of course all include Breakfast as well :) Total spend before taxes $305 and includes 2 nights at Tech Centre, 1 night each at Hyatt Place South and Hyatt Regency Convention Centre :) Sweeeeeeet! :D |
So if I elect to do a local "matress run" and check in at 3 PM on November 30...shower, take a nap, have dinner, and check-out at 11:59 PM on November 30...would I still receive credit for a stay which would count for a FFN?

I think that would be a great question to ask Gold Passport. Let us know what their response is. |
I wouldn't count on it, Lswcih! What are GP's rules on day/ non-overnight rates & stays?
But the e-mail quoted by NJ is very instructive re: stays starting e.g. Nov. 27 & continuing into Dec. I would recommend checking out Nov. 30, then in again with a new folio, but even then the system may combine them into 1 stay  ! |
Well, the response I received from GP is not a categorical no concerning earning FFN credit on the last day of the promotion with a checkout the next day. It only says that the computer will not track this.
As others have noted above, a call to GP remedied the situation in the past. However, this is not to say that in the future, GP may decide not to give this credit, or that it may do so on a case by case basis, perhaps depending on one's GP status. Inasmuch as the the original questioner has numerous elite status with frequency programs, including GP, I am sure that they would answer that question, or any other question, that he/she might have. Certainly, they got back to us within a week, and since the promotion does not end until November 30, 2007, there is plenty of time to obtain an answer from them, if only one were to write them. |
I have talked to 2 CS reps at Hyatt who assured me a checkin in Nov qualifies as a stay regardless of when a Dec checkout occurs.

Fine. Then you will be able to recite back to the CS rep that you were orally assured of this, if you are denied credit. Enjoy. Perhaps it would be a better use of your time instead of your posting this, that you were to do what I did and write GP about your concerns and ask for a response in writing whether or not one would earn credit? |
Thank you for the advice
