Thumbs up Confirmed Sighting of Fast Track to Diamond

I was on the phone to the GP Diamond Desk today, not realizing that I was now only Platinum as of today. I talked a bit with the very helpful GP representative and mentioned that I probably would have requalified for Diamond again last year if FFN had been announced earlier last year and if the rates had not gone up so high. He looked at my account and told me that, based upon the amount of my spending at Hyatt last year, he could offer me Fast Track to Diamond.

The deal I got: Stay 4 nights (paid) before June 30th and I am back in the club. I did not think to ask if stays at HP Place, etc. would qualify, because I do not intend to stay at any.

If this is old news, I apologize. I did a quick thread search on "Fast Track" and the comments I reviewed generally stated that Hyatt does not do this, but one hinted last January that this approach could change. It has in my case.

Wow, nice FastTrack offer. 4 stays in 4 months for Diamond?!?! Congrats. That shouldn't be too hard to attain. Now getting the other 21 stays for next year will be the hard part.

Fast Track - Seconded

I was able to get on the fast track as well.

They definitely checked my stay history, which for reference was about 60 nights over the past 1.5 yrs in a Park Hyatt, which was later removed from my company plan.

4 stays before June 30 will get me to '08, after that I'm on my own.

Was going to lose <> on 2/28 as I had 0 stays in 2006. However, I had about 15 nights in Feb 2007 and another 40 booked and was comped <> on request in late Feb.

I would think two stays at Hyatt Place before 3/31 count double, so you could qualify even quicker.

Thumbs up

Hyatt was nice enough to re-qualify me at 18 stays. Perhaps due to being in Canada where we have limited Hyatt properties to choose from.

I should add that I did not even ask...the card just showed up!

The moral to this story is that it now pays to ask.

Just be polite and have some knowledge and you might be eligible. It's a gamble but such is life. My 4th stay will be between the june 1st -june 30th. 2009 baby. Well worth the 45 minute call wait.

That would be inconceivable (inconsistent with email) if they didn't. some Hyatt Place's are more expensive than "regular" Hyatt's.

Even with hyatt place counting double till 3/31 you still need 4 actual stays.

Bummer.

I had hoped Hyatt would stick to the rules at least for their most prestigious Diamond level. Any alleviation for requalification will devalue Diamond status benefits. Hilton has demosntrated how quickly you can destroy a good program.
