Does "Lifetime Points Earned" mean anything?

I just booked my first free stay using points (as opposed to FFN) and my "current points" now has a different number than my "lifetime points earned". So I'm now curious whether this number mean anything.

Perhaps there's a lifetime status at some ridiculous number (5 million points) or a bonus at each 100K points? Or am I just being too hopeful?

I think you need a certain number of lifetime points PLUS 15 consecutive years as diamond to earn lifetime Diamond.

I'm sure it was posted here at sometime, but I can't remember the exact number of points needed. It may have been in the million range.

There are quite a few posts about Lifetime Diamond status already. Try searching here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/search.php

My understanding is that total lifetime points don't matter. They only count base points toward lifetime status. 1 million base points + certain number of consecutive years as diamond.

Thanks Tummy, you're right. It was base points, which aren't listed anywhere. And I thought I was 25% of the way there. Oh well, maybe after 12 more years I'll have enough.

10 Years at Diamond plus the Million base points, so spend $200,000.

I've got 13 years at Diamond, but still at least 3+ years to hit the $200,000.

Where are you and your wonderful humor I miss on the board lately.

This forum is way less fun than it use to be.....

We need folks like Rob back to liven it up and find some special codes like cigar and wine again.

TravelGuy, you make me feel all warm and gooey inside! I check out the board about twice a week, but nothing new. {Edited by peteropny to remove comments on moderation}

I was most recently told by CS Lifetime Diamond status is awarded on the base point accumulation ONLY. No need to have 10 Diamond years consecutive or not. (This is seemingly different from the requirements when I attained my Lifetime status around 2000.)

Is there a way to find out what amount of lifetime "base points", as opposed to "lifetime points" as on your summary, that one has?

Unfortunately I cannot find an effective way to search the Hyatt site for the press release.

You need to call GP.

I called GP a couple of years ago to find out my base point total, and at that time they confirmed the 10 years + 1,000,000 base points, so Iím not sure if it has been changed since then. For most of us the 10 years is much easier to hit than the $200,000.

I think that courtesy card is a special recognition that is very rarely handed out. I know of one of our FTers who recently received one based on a special relationship with Hyatt and particularly one of their top properties.
