Great news for Resort-Fans...
... Hyatt Regency Phuket has been officially announced on Hyatt's website! Have a look at the future hotels in Asia site --> http://www.hyatt.com/hyatt/about/pre...ernational.jsp
It is slated to open in 2007 and will have 165 rooms. Anyone with any further news or renderings? |
I see the PH Kinsale Resort in Ireland is back on the list as well. * It was taken off the "Futures" list I think and this is the first time I've seen it back on in almost a year.

Also new: Hyatt Regency Lisbon! Finally a new Hyatt in Europe that won't be charging rates of over 500€ a night! :D Now, if they would only expand the Hyatt Place brand to Europe. It is a growing market that should really come to some smaller cities over here!

10 new ones in China. Wow!

I can see that building going up on Mody RD from my room at the GHHK. All the rumours from the staff here say that it is the new Hyatt in Kowloon. Still no mention over on Hyatt.com.

They want you to shell out US$150K for the CHEAPEST/WORST studio room at the HR Phuket? Please!!!! And that's not even the funniest thing on the page. The funniest thing is how optimistic they are regarding those room rates. At the current exchange rate of $1 = 38 baht, they say the rack rate on this studio room will be $526. @:-) Ummmm, hello people, this is Thailand, not NYC or Hawaii. And then even worse they assume the average price paid after discount will be 70% of rack rate (or $368 per night). Did they not take into account that you can get a room at a really nice hotel in Phuket for $100? Who in their right mind would pay $368? Talk about some optimistic numbers!! I'm surprised they didn't project the occupancy rates at 99%. :( I hope they have a better sales shpeal than this nonsense otherwise this hotel will NEVER get enough investors to be built!! |
I just stayed at the Quality Suites BKK while connecting back from Phuket and was surprised to see a glass case with a mock-up of the new Hyatt Phuket at the entrance to the restaurant. I asked one of the waiters and he said it's the same owner as the Quality Suites (which has no affiliation to Choice hotels but is listed with RCI) The mock-up didn't look bad with a few buildings (one closer, one further from the beach) and some ocean front villas.

Hyatt Regency Phuket - where exactly is it?
Hi,
does anybody know in which area of Phuket it will be located? Is the opening date realistic or is it going to become the same story like the Conrad Phuket which is under construction since 3 years? |
