Interesting changes here

resort fee now 36$ parking is 15$ self 26$ valet.

Renovated casino - now offering 4pm checkout at checkin (in the past 1pm was it as it’s considered resort).

Proactively upgraded for the first time at this property (typically ask about lakeside cabins).

Not a bad stay but at a 170$ rate would be 250$ our the door with parking, resort fee and tax if not a glob.

Lounge still is a strong meh. One day was closed no alternate breakfast offered.

Also free drinks at bar while gambling have been cut back (previously no issues ordering absolute / kettle one in the high limit area as long as 250$ in machine or in chips now only house type spirts)

almost seems like the property has changed management or ownership?

Yes casino got very chintzy after makeover - no more premium spirits or beers unless you get a special exemption from pit boss!
So valet parking + resort fee now means +$50 ripoff fees on top of room rate. Skiers w/o top status might as well stay at Squaw Creek which has ski in ski out - no driving needed once you get there. Not that you have to worry about blizzards this year.

Seems like the bigger corner kings have been reclassified. Only an Explorist, but have gotten upgrades for them in the past, but now they are classified as "suites", so no more free upgrades.

This place seems to be going down the path of other Hyatt properties I've seen where management has become focused on squeezing every last dollar out of guests.

I'm looking at the property's website now and it still shows those corner rooms in the main building as "King Bed Deluxe", which is what they have always been.

Yep, that is what I saw as well, but the person on the phone and at the front desk wouldn't budge. I made sure to note that in my review/survey they sent me.

Just came back from our annual trip to Tahoe over the Presidents' day weekend. Something changed and I think mostly good.
Club lounge has better food than last year. Better dessert, cold cut meat everyday during breakfast & dinner, a little surprise but good to make a quick "small" sandwich. It is well worth the club lounge reward, but I am not sure about the paying for it (last year was $120 for 3 of us, but this year we use the award).
Self parking is $18 per nt (not $15). I asked can that fee be waived (like the resort fee) since we are on award stay, and the answer is no. Not "Point" award, parking fee only waived for cert. award and Globalist o_O
The new parking rule and gate, we have NO problem of finding parking. I am more than happy to pay the fee as long as there is parking. Last year, we notices a lot of locals or people who are not hotel guest would come and park at the hotel self park and take advantage of the free shuttle, restaurant across the street & beach access.
"Free s'more kit" it was a good addition, but the marshmallow were a little old (hard) take a bit to melt.
At the end, we loved our trip and would return again next year.

Just to clarify, so parking fee waived for Globalist?

If you were there on an points based free-night award and are globalist, you most certainly should have free parking. It's one of the nice 'fringe' perks about the status imo. I get free parking with all pt-stays at other places, no problem. Maybe they were confused?

Globalist free parking whether you are on point, award or pay stay.
If you are on "award' stay (like the Hyatt CC award, or the 60nts/100K base point) , then the parking is free, but if the stay like us (using 20K/nt) you have to pay 18$ per night. We are explorist only

Ah yes, for explorist, parking gets charged.

Well, thanks for the review -- I am staying here for the first time next Labor day week (after the expensive weekend) for a chill-cation.

Looking to make a stay here in July and had few questions on the property...

- some reviews have mentioned the rooms being really noisy. Is this still an issue there?
- location... is this better location to access good hike trails etc (or should I be looking at south lake tahoe)?

Also, I am assuming the resort fee is still applicable on award reservations? seems like ripoff... $36 resort fee plus parking fee.

Have been staying here for over 20 years. Have never had a problem with noise other than an occasional child in the hall. You don't show your Hyatt status but only Globalists get resort fee waived and free parking on award stays.

If it is a free night award or full points stay you will not have to pay the resort fee, this includes all members.

I've never experienced an inordinate amount of noise.

We've found that the Hyatt is a great base camp to access trails and such. Much quieter and laid back compared to South Tahoe. We've never had trouble finding good hiking. Download a good trails app and you'll have plenty.

No resort fee on award stays but you will pay parking unless you are a Globalist (or have a Glob book for you).

Enjoy! We are going back mid July
