They should at least have some light refreshments and a space for Globalists to work.

Wow ! But not too surprising. We stayed there last week for 5 nights and the occupancy seemed low. We tended to eat breakfast early each morning before skiing, and there was only 1 or 2 other parties in the restaurant. Now that all the local ski areas have closed for the season, there's not much of a reason to stay there. They also started some renovations last week and I assume this will continue through the closure.

Revise to say that hotel will honor existing reservations. All services will be shut down. Restaurants are closed beginning today. Tahoe Provisions will close March 20.
So, if you come up on existing reservation there will be your room......that's it.

Hopefully they will waive the resort fees. We would still like to visit early next month if the ski resorts re-open though Northstar is now closed for the season per recent announcement by Vail Resorts (Heavenly at South Tahoe may re-open but the hotel isn't the best choice if skiing there). No word yet on Squaw or Diamond Peak plans (currently closed)

If you have a reservation, you're in. No resort fees because NOTHING inside the hotel operating. Most guests departed this morning.

My April rez was just cancelled due to order of Governor of Nevada to close all casino-hotels. That will teach me to go skiing earlier in the year...

How do you book the timeshare side? They seem to be rarely available on Hyatt.com

questions

1. How is the private beach in July? Is the sand very nice, and is the water appropriate for kids to go play and swim around in?

2. Hotel advertises that one can rent kayaks and paddleboards from its private pier. Yet there's another page that says that hotel guests can rent watersports stuff from some local place called AWS Incline. So how does kayak/paddleboard rental work? Are you renting from Hyatt or AWS Incline, is it free/expensive?

3. Which room types in the main tower give you the view of Lake Tahoe? Is there any chance that a standard room can have a view of Tahoe, if you ask to be above certain floor level?

Thanks a lot!

It's a very nice beach suitable for children, but the water is always ice cold. Our children seemed to never have a problem with it but few adults get in. It's very safe but I certainly would have some safety device on them. Accidents can happen in even 3' of water.
You are renting from AWS and not the hotel. I've always thought their prices are ridiculous. Go to their website to see the prices. AWSIncline.com
The hotel is built perpendicular to the lake so no room has a straight on view of the lake. You have to go to the window in the room and turn your head. I certainly would be on floor 7 or higher in any event. Only rooms that would have a pretty much straight on view of the lake would be certain rooms/suites in the lakeside cottages.

Agreed the beach is nice. Last time I was there (early September), the beach side food/drink service was quite on top of things too, and the water temp then was decent (cool, but I wouldn't say cold). Rentals are ridiculously expensive as you state, and yeah, lake views don't exist at the hotel -- it is best just to avoid a view of the parking lot, IMO. I rather enjoyed a 'third floor' 1 bedroom suite (which a TSU got me into) with some pines right out the window (if I recall, I think it was pretty much the ground floor). If one wants to spend down time in a beautiful room looking out a view, this hotel (well the tower at least) isn't really the best place at any rate for many reasons.

I've been looking at possible stays here this summer but prices seem rather ridiculous on the dates I can travel (like 400-550 $/night) and pt redemptions are high as well. For prices like that there are much much nicer and easier to get to vacation destinations I can think of.

Prices were close to $1000/nt for July 4 weekend but we just cancelled an award Rez so you might get lucky. 25k point/nt is definitely a good redemption in the summer and it killed me to cancel but our plans changed.

we found a massive house just up the street on AirBnB for <$1k per night and there are many others on VRBO and Airbnb that are far cheaper - mostly on the California side stretching from Kings Beach down to Honewood. Placed and El Dorado counties just gave the green light for short term rentals to start up so inventory should be plentiful.

I have been staying Regularly at the Hyatt for more than 2 decades now but not sure it makes sense now if you need a bigger room, and given the current situation.

Thanks a lot for the info!
AWS sure is expensive.
Glad to hear that the beach is very nice.
Hyatt's ~$370+tax on a weekday night this summer. That's >3x the rate at places like Harrah's and Harvey.
But I think we'll probably give it a shot. Will consider the price difference the cost of having a nice beach to lounge on and a more family-friendly environment.

We are staying in a house up the road and did a walkthrough earlier this week. Pleased to report that the pool, hot tubs and beach are open. Cutthroats and Sierra Cafe are closed, but this is no great loss as there are many restaurants open across the road (with outdoor seating for those of us who prefer to stay free of COVID). We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Lone Eagle Grill, which just re-opened. It was our first indoor dining experience since early March, but I was not too worried as the table are very well spaced now. There is also outdoor seating but the temps have been pretty chilly at night. The food and service were great as the staff was happy to be back. The casino was virtually deserted - no table games open. The lobby is now devoid of furniture, and big plastic screens separate the checkin staff from the customers.

Personally I think it is a great time to visit Incline - the weather is warming up and there is plenty to do outdoors in a socially distanced manner. Much better than the California side of Tahoe which has been slower to re-open though we observed the restaurant business is booming in Truckee. I plan to buy a retirement home here in Nevada someday. Until then we will probably return to the Hyatt in the winter, when COVID has disappeared and the rates are more tolerable. However happy to report that tubing is open on Truckee River from Tahoe City. Great bike trails from Squaw to Tahoe City to Homewood.
