It would have been nice today though, right?
I just set up car service from the Reno airport, and in speaking with the dispatcher he said he was out at Squaw today and it was 'perfect spring conditions'. Sunny, 50 degrees, and spring / corn snow...
A bad year to be in the tourist industry in Tahoe...

Nice stay at this hotel. The main building is completely down for renovations, so space is limited, and the club is closed until the renovations are done.
Coupons for breakfast at Sierra Cafe (still anything off menu on weekdays or buffet on weekends), two non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers at the Saloon, and coffee at the Provisions store. Suite upgrade was to a Jr. Suite on the 1st floor. No view, but room is plenty big for the two of us. Front desk informed that Diamonds receive $5 off the resort fee. Access to Stillwater Spa also comp for Diamonds, but the spa is closed on Mondays temporarily.
Le Bistro great restaurant within walking distance.

Contrary to the post above, I was very underwhelmed with a recent stay. If the Regency Club is closed, I would have expected to be notified of that at the time of booking (or at least before arrival), especially for a multi night stay. Appetizers in the Cutthroat's saloon where you can smell the smoke from the casino is not an acceptable alternative. The option to redeem the vouchers across the street at the Lone Eagle Grill would have been acceptable in my mind.
Despite having high level floor as a preference was given a room with a patio in the (rather uninspired) spa wing. This is the first time I can recall taking an elevator down to my room and also the first time I have checked out of a hotel multiple days early.
Resort fee as a diamond was not discounted and there was no mention of access to the Stillwater Spa at check in or any other time.
Once the renovation is complete this might be a different property but I couldn't wait to leave.

Was at the resort yesterday. The renovation seems to be going very slowly. There seems to be nothing on the internet but I did see a picture on a bulletin board in the hotel. Looks, in the picture, very nice.
The Club has reopened on the 11th floor. It looks exactly identical to me except maybe the the wallpaper was changed. At check-in the agent told me the "remodeled" club has reopened but then gave me an information sheet about it which said it was still in the temporary spot on the 4th floor.
The club hostess told us that none of the rooms in the tower are ready for occupancy yet and she questioned as well a May completion date. She did say they were full last week with a meeting and some guests were placed in rooms in the tower section that were not totally ready. The rooms in the Spa wing have not been touched and the hostess said she had not heard anything about updating those.

Resort fee of $21.00 per room, per night (plus 13% occupancy tax) until 31MAY12, $25.00 per room, per night (plus 13% occupancy tax) beginning 01JUN12
I would really like to see government regulation banning mandatory fees. Enough already! $28-ish???

Had a nice stay in renovated room. Mixed feelings about new design - while nice and modern it however seems more suitable to city HR rather than lodge/resort place. Sort of IKEA-ish feel. Very functional though with some interesting touches. Bathrooms definitely look much better.
Only three or four floors are open - a couple employees mentioned delays with furniture delivery on top of construction complications. This is likely to stretch into june if not beyond.
Lounge is not renovated, not sure if it will be - seems OK to me other than the outdated ceiling. One of lounge attendants is moving to Southern CA.
Service is great as usual and the place is pleasantly quiet in shoulder season - go there before this turns into summer zoo.

We had a nice stay here over Memorial Day weekend! Weather wasn't ideal, but it was still quite nice.
It was a 3 night stay. I had paid the first night with AAA rate and used a suite upgrade certificate on that night. Nights two and three were free nights we got from the Hyatt Chase Credit Card.
Upon check-in they told me we had been upgraded to a Lakeside Cottage for all three nights!! WOO HOO!! That was the last thing I was expecting, especially for a sold out Memorial Day Weekend stay. At the most I had been expecting an upgrade to a renovated room! We only have Platinum GP status currently, and this year, the only reason we have that is because of the credit card.
I feel like we really lucked out on the upgrade!!
We did however run in to several issues during our stay, but the properties General Manger, Fred Findlen, was excellent. He made good on everything. Great customer service from his end and that was much appreciated!
I do hope they plan to renovate the cottages, once they finish up with the main tower. They're a great size and have a beautiful location, but they could definitely use a nice renovation!
Dinner at Lone Eagle Grille was amazing!! The place was packed so I was glad we made a reservation, food was wonderful and so was the service! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice meal while staying there.
We also ate at Austin's across the street, which was pretty good, and T's BBQ, which was good as well, just know it's a cash only place.
We had Regency Club access which was nice for breakfast each morning and also great because we had a fridge in the cottage so we were able to stock up on water and soda from the club for the fridge. Seemed to be on the smaller side compared to other Clubs we've been in.
Not sure we'll make it back anytime soon, but it was nice to experience once.

Would be interested to know what were some of the issues and how you were able to get the General Manager involved?

I got the GM's name from a weekly 'happenings' type newsletter that was placed in various areas around the property, so I took some time to e-mail him after we checked out with our various issues! He responded within 24 hours and offered his apologies and fixes for our issues so that future guests would not have the same experience.. Very nice and pleasant to speak with!
We didn't have anything major happen, just a bunch of little things that put a damper on the weekend.
Things like...
-Although it was amazing to get upgraded to a cottage, there were 4 of us adults traveling together, so I had obviously reserved a 2 queen room. Unfortunately the cottages only have 1 king bed and couch. When you're planning a nice weekend getaway, nobody really wants to ever have to sleep on a pull out or roll-a-ways. We opted for the roll-aways, obviously to keep ourselves in the cottage. That and quite honestly it didn't sound like they had another room for us at that point beside a very small room with two full beds.
-Faucet on the kitchen sink leaked.
-Iron was broken.
-TV wasn't getting any of it's HD Channels. Normally not a big deal, but due to weather we were kind of stuck inside for some of Saturday. Had the engineer come out, he tinkered around for a half hour. We still never got all the channels working properly.
-We had the downstairs cottage and we could hear every move the couple upstairs were making. There was also a terrible squealing noise whenever they would move around the bathroom. We even got to hear the couple above us....ummm...'enjoying their honeymoon' the one night. Noises from the bed and them!! While funny for a while...got old after a while when all we wanted to do was go to bed. Mostly, it was surprising how paper thin the ceiling/floor above us must have been.
-The activities desk/concierge had no answers to any of our pretty basic questions pertaining to trail maps that were 'Hyatt' recommended and distributed by them. Not even difficult questions, but ones like, do you have you recommend? Or, is this trail a loop or one way hike?
-After checkout the folio made no sense, and the front desk, was of no help and just told me, that's what the computer did. IE got charged for a night I had already paid for, etc. Even Fred the GM said he couldn't understand it, and he's been in the business for 27 years.
So...nothing major like I said, but it was a bunch of little things like that, that just added up throughout the weekend that just left us feeling disappointed about a trip we had very much been looking forward too!
