G2 Code for Bonus Points

I keep on trying to use the new codes for bonus points on reservations.

The G2 code, which is for 2000 points, keeps on returning government rates. I tried with 2 different hotels.

In one case I get a bed & breakfast package and also government rates.

With the old codes, after it was input and the update rate button was pressed, the code stating bonus points would show up above the rate.

Anyone else having similar results?

I started via the 'special offers button. It then prompted me for the country , city etc. I entered that and the date required.
It then gave me a code G3 in my case, which was automatic, and then gave me the choice of reservation rates within the code.

This was for the Kowloon Hyatt.

Why do you need to input GP2000 or G2? All rates on hyatt.com are eligible, right? Once you make the reservation, you will get the points by merely asking for them when you check in or check out, or evern retroactively from Hyatt Customer Service--they're very good about this.

From what I've heard, Hyatt has been more strict about the bonus offers. You need to request them AT RESERVATION AND AT CHECK-IN, per the T&C. Some Customer Service reps have refused to credit them retroactively.

Mary .. is this something new? I've always just requested them when checking in (or out, if I forget).

I've always put the offer code in the "offer/coupon" code box on the right hand side of the screen. This is the same location where you can select the type of rate, such as best available, AAA, senior, etc.

What used to happen is that I would put the code in the box and press update rate and the screen would refresh to show the offer code on top of each of the rates being displayed.

It's the only way I ever requested the code - at booking. I had to call for very few missing bonus points using this method. Now I keep on getting government rates

If this is their position now, it's :td: since many of the front desk people don't even know how to input it right (despite asking at check-in and check-out often I didn't get it posted properly).

Policy hasn't changed for me

I have had several stays within the past month where I :

1. asked for the bonus at checkin.
2. asked for the bonus at checkout.
3 Forgot about bonus until later when I called CS.
All 3 posted quickly. I have not seen a change with the bonus.
YMMV

Just had the same thing. I always put items in the remarks section such as for my just booked Manchester Grand- GP2000 BREAKF. This way I also remember.

I've never requested the bonus on the reservation. I've always requested it at checkin and then verified it at checkout with the bonus code (G1, G2,G3, etc.) printed in the bonus section of the folio. Hyatt CS has always been helpful when I've missed a few.

There is a online form for missing bonuses now. They have always posted for me within 24 hours and without any complaint from customer service.

Yes, the same exact thing happened to me when I tried to book a stay last week using the AAA rate and the "G2" code. It would return only the government rate and the hyatt.com rate with the G2 code, neither of which I wanted. So I ended up just booking the AAA rate without the G2 code and then calling Hyatt Reservations to add both the G2 code as well as the BREAKF code to the reservation. Kinda a pain, but oh well. I think it's just a software glitch or something. I was gonna call Hyatt and let them know about this glitch but I never got around to it. BTW, it happens when you input any code into the "Promotional Code" box I think, not just the G1/G2/G3 code. BTW, the stay was last Thursday and just posted to my account today.......WITHOUT the 2000 bonus points. Looks like another call to GP is in order.

I didn't know you could do that. (It's moot for now, I guess.)

Thanks,
David

Same here; Had it added by GP during 800-Checkin. Didn't post when the stay showed up on my account.

You would think someone at Hyatt would try to get this fixed as it would save many calls and compliants, I first noticed this "glitch" around the beginning of June. So if anyone over at Hyatt see this thread wake up and get it fixed.
