FFN Not Valid At Vendome..WHAT??

Just curious.....I've scanned the threads to try to find an answer to this. I see others here mentioning that they are using FFN for stays at Paris Vendome. The rules specify that you CANNOT use FFN at Paris Vendome or Manchester Grand San Diego.

So am I reading this correctly....you CAN use FFN at Paris Vendome? What about Manchester Grand? I'm confused!

------

You're confusing Park Hyatt Place Vendome and Hyatt Regency Madelaine. One can not use FFN on the Madelaine property, but one can on Vendome.

As far as getting availability on Vendome, that is completely different matter. Scoring a free weekend stay is, let's say, DIFFICULT.

DIFFICULT but so worth it :-D One of the nicest Park Hyatts I have been in, the other being Park Hyatt Melbourne due to the lounge..

I was lucky enough to use 2 FFN at the Vendome on Jan 14-16 this year. Very nice hotel, and excellent staff. :)

tinnub,

How much in advance did you have to book? I tried to get some around New Years / early Jan and they were not available...

Booked the rooms in mid November for the 2nd week in Jan. Hope this helps. Good luck on getting your room.

Well since I could not get PH Vendome on FFN around New Years and their regular rates were around 500 Euros, I discovered IC Le Grand Paris down the street above Cafe de la Paix on the Depart 2 for 1 special. Very nice when I got a jr. Suite overlooking the Opera Garnier.

Trying my luck for PH Vendome again mid April and London Churchill mid-Feb right now. Wish me luck.

I had held a 4 night points stay for months for 1/21-25. Then I earned a bunch of FFNs and thought about switching over. I called the Diamond Desk and they said "no problem, it is available" but for whatever reason, I didn't switch over.

Fast forward...we are in Rome at the Westin Excelsior and I e-mail GP asking to be switched over to FFNs for our Paris Vendome stay which was coming up in a few days. Two days later, I call the European Hyatt desk to see if this has been done. Very friendly rep says "no, there is no record of this request and the FFNs are not available at Paris Vendome." I think, "well, I 'll just use them to gain nights for requalifying for 2006 before that isn't allowed."

I get 2 responses to my e-mail stating I can expect a response within a day or 2...I get nothing.

We get to Paris, enjoy our stay (should one really have to be crawling around on one's hands and knees looking for outlets for a PC or curling iron at a 5* hotel that is showing a 500+ $US room rate? And that perfume they pipe into the air system gets tiring after awhile.) and come home.

A week later I get an e-mail apologizing for the delay and saying that they have redeposited 60,000 points to my GP account and subtracted 4 nights from my FFN balance.

Hyatt rules. I'm working on my trip report but, while the PH Paris Vendome has a few stumbles, it is wonderful and to come out of that hotel, turn left, walk 2 blocks and be in the Place de Opera and the Opera Garnier filling one's view...amazing. I just can't get enough of Paris.

I had trouble finding the outlet, too, but thought to call the operator before I got down on my hands and knees. I assume you found it in the desk? And I have to say I like the aroma! I wouldn't disagree about the stumbles (I don't think there's adequate lighting in the room), but I guess everyone has his or her own issues!

The aromatherapy thing is all the rage in hotels I guess, at least in Paris...we walked through the Hotel Crillon and they had their signature scent wafting around the lobby as well. I didn't mind the Hyatt one, but Mrs. Paris said there was a note to it she found too woodsy or something. I had a slight sinus thing going and it didn't really help that. I will never again look at the goldy taupe color they line the hallways with and not think of that scent.

I almost called down about the outlet but just could not bring myself to do it...Yes, there is one in the desk but you have to be nearly a contortionist to get at it with your adaptor without having 220 volts of energy surging through your body and there was one about an inch from the floor hidden behind a chair and small table between the 2 large French windows which I only found after dropping to all fours...Mrs. Paris is still snickering at that.

I think it is odd that there are no regular outlets in the bathroom...only the one marked "razors only."

By stumbles, I mean things like glassware repeatedly not being replaced until I asked and clearly seeing that there are 2 people in the room but only leaving 1 wash cloth...nothing big, just little burps in a lovely stay.

And does any hotel in the world have a more painfully slim, charming, and attractive staff than this hotel? All the gentlemen in their black tuxes looked like they had just stepped out of an issue of GQ. And they were all unfailingly polite.

Now to get this back on topic...believe me when I say I will stay at the PH Vendome on FFN in a heartbeat! Loved it.

I was informed that FFN might not show availability but that doesn't mean there might not be a points stay available. Snag that and then try for the swap closer to your stay.
