Is there now going to be 5 different point rates for each cat (LOWEST, LOW, MODERATE, UPPER, TOP)? No more PEAK and Non-PEAK?

Well, this definitely is a move to devalue point values. Might be gentle at first but in a few years I can see that places I spend 8K points now will be 15K or more. The reason to go above 60 via CC spend nights is probably completely gone for me now. I've enjoyed the points earned from CC spend (over 2 cents a point, generally speaking, plus reaching 10K bonuses at 70, 80. 90. etc). I was already drawing back this year because the 'peak' pricing seems to be appearing more often now just on weekends and holidays in ho-hum non-touristy markets (even when cash rates are low) and that has had me booking a lot more of my casual stays either not at all, on cash, or dare I say, even at competitors (have three marriott stays booked this summer, already, just because the Hyatt cash rates and peak-rate points are stupid high. I've only stayed at a marriott in a market Hyatt serves three times in the last 8 years).

We're now at 40 different point redemptions levels for standard rooms. This is basically dynamic awards now..

So basically Lowest, Low, Moderate are today’s Off Peak, Normal, Peak, and they’ve added 2 more higher prices on the top end. This seems like a pretty significant devaluation unfortunately, but it doesn’t seem like it’ll be too bad in 2026, at least according to this snippet in the press release. The fact that they’re not specifying the percentage of dates per year that falls under each category is not a good indication though.

The good thing is that it seems like this will avoid full on dynamic pricing in the years to come? So while 2cpp might be harder to get, we also won’t see 0.5cpp being typical.

Ugh, I guess Hyatt won't be the easy obvious target for my UR anymore. The Edit is somehow becoming more appealing, shame that got nerfed so quickly too.

Particularly awful at the aspirational property level -- 2/3s increases on cat 7 and 8? This is Bonvoy'd orders of magnitude. Forgive me if I don't believe "peak" will be the preponderant classification too.

My two cents is Hyatt really doesn't have the true footprint to justify taking this as far as they are. Even with globalist benefits intact (for now), the points are just being devalued too dramatically to make focusing on hyatt make any sense.

I guess that's one way to give a Cat4 free night more value... jack up the points needed for a Cat 4. As for my usual year end bookings of Cat 1 hotels to make sure I hit Globalist, I think I will wait until the later announcement, as there is some chance of beating 3500 points per night..... maybe..

It will be interesting to see the transition as far as the award availability calendars for individual hotels. I suppose we won't be able to see when a hotel offers a "lowest" category room until after the actual launch.
