"Higher/better" Suite upgrade as Explorist - if I book the lowest level suite
Have an award booking for 3 nights at a Hyatt in Malaysia. I booked a suite award - the only one/level possible. But of course, there are better / higher level suites with better views, etc...
Any chance of getting upgraded to one of the better ones as an Explorist?
I know suite upgrades are only for Globalist -- so this is a little bit different scenario.

An Explorist is almost certainly not going to be upgraded further, unless for some reason the standard suites ended up being overbooked by non-status guests.
Even Globalists end up in the entry-level suites most of the time they are upgraded...
You can always contact the hotel to see if you can pay to upgrade further.

Not usually even when fully booked "naturally". (room inventory would have adjusted appropriately) More like when a sports team or company off-site suddenly needs a block booking of 20 rooms and the hotel really wants that business, so starts "op-uping" everybody else.

But hotels do overbook and it's possible they'll oversell the lower priced rooms with open premium suites. I'm pretty sure this is why Andaz Singapore upgraded us to Presidential Suite on a one night award stay recently.
