Will Hyatt and American Airlines do another AAdvantage status challenge this year?

Thoughts? Have there been any rumors or talk of this?

The status challenge is little more than splitting the annual LP requirements into 3 separate periods.

I would expect that it will be back in the autumn.

It gives you instant status instantly with higher return on flights, which is a huge benefit than starting from scratch.

I know why people want to do the status challenge. I'm waiting to do one myself.

The point is that AA only "gives away" 4 months of status and doesn't lower the LP requirements overall, so it's relatively easy to offer the promo.

One major difference is that the timing of the Instant Pass is not the same as a traditional qualification year. I had an expensive flight in Nov that's propelled me forward for 2024 status year. Without it, I would be be Gold for both years, now I'm PP until March 2025.

There is apparently a targeted offer for Hyatt elites. I have not seen anyone get the offer though, just the blogs mentioning it alongside the (much more public) AA to Hyatt match.

I was able to match and get aa plat pro. Last time I was able to do this was 2019 right before covid. I got one flight before covid hit from China to US but didn't seem to get an upgrade.

I just matched again for first time since. Sadly I don't have any AA flights in next 3 months. There are almost none out of China. I still think aa elites get out of this far better than Hyatt onses. They should give us a yr match and top status

Arguably the best use of AA Plat Pro status (which Globalists get matched to) would be the Cathay F and Qantas F lounges. Don't need to fly AA to use them (although the Flagship lounges aren't bad by any measure).

Do I have to be flying qantas or Cathay to get lounge access? I'm flying Australia but via Singapore Airlines.

And in hK, the new chase Sapphire reserve lounge is spectacular

You'll need to be flying OneWorld carriers, yes.

This suggests that AA matched your Hyatt status to get (higher) American status. Match offers of American status to Hyatt status are widespread, vice versa not so much. If theres a link to match AA status from Hyatt status please provide it. Thank you.

There is a targeted offer going on now, you can supposedly see it under promotions in AA if you're linked. Fwiw I'm globalist and wasn't targeted yet, but I did get the match last year. Supposedly more targeted offers are being rolled out in batches.

I just checked, and I was targetted for an Instant Status Pass. I am Globalist. I went from no AA status to Platinum Pro.

Cool. Will check it out in a couple of weeks.

PS - It's instant, I see Plat Pro now.

I wish there were a way to do this from AS->AA->Hyatt. I do not like flying AA unless it is code share with AS.
