WOH refusing to grant points for hotel dining
So this is a first...
Stayed at the Hyatt Centric Ville-Marie last week and when I checked out, despite dining at the hotel restaurant, "eligible charges" were marked as zero.
I contacted WOH and have been really surprised at how uninformed some of the agents have been. Some have said "well, it has to do with the rate you paid" (uh, no... even if I weren't staying at the hotel I could earn points) or "it was room service" (uh, no... it was dining at the restaurant).
The answer I get from agents is "well, the hotel designated it as ineligible so there is nothing we can do".
Anyone else have this issue? I have never found agents to be anything less than helpful but this time around they're being a bit obtuse IMO...

Unclear to me at least. I did receive a check/bill to sign with a space for a room number/last name on it so if they weren't affiliated in some way then that option shouldn't have been there....

I usually use this link to see if a property's restaurant and/or spa qualifies: https://world.hyatt.com/content/gp/e...iningspadining
The one issue is that if a hotel has multiple restaurants, this won't tell you which one(s) qualify. You'd have to confirm with the hotel in that case.
If you search for a hotel and nothing comes up, then their restaurants(s) and/or spas do not qualify.

If you ate at the Cartier Arms, that is owned by the same group as the Burgundy Lion pub so it is indeed third party.
The fact that you can charge it to the room is not an indicator of hotel ownership unfortunately.

A first for me... I assumed that room charge= points. A bit tacky if you ask me but hey, not big bucks so not the end of the world.

Unfortunately this even happens with parking times to times. Even when parking is free for Globalists on an award stay, (and therefore you'd imply it's part of the hotel), nothing should be assumed. They'll say it's operated by a 3rd party, and the next time you have to pay for it (through the hotel bill) they won't give you points for that.
Good news is at least from the bank perspective, it still counts as Hyatt, so you'll get some extra points if using Hyatt credit card.

I thought that Hyatt was free of these shenanigans... unlike Marriott and IHG with 10,000 exceptions to every benefit... but now I know :-)

Only $5 of my ~$700 spend at Hyatt Centric Key West last week earned points , I paid for the room with points and earn most of my Hyatt points via credit card SUB and transfers from UR so it's not a big deal.
The restaurants were Shor and the pool bar
I did get 2 $50 credits ( one bill I paid with my Hyatt CC at the bar before we could check in and the other was room charges for the rest of our stay ) on the WOH business card so I guess Hyatt owns both places.

I don't think it's uncommon for 3rd party places inside the hotel to allow room charges.
