Right. Absolutely sh*t location. Are they going refurbish the entire hotel? Because given the location and the condition of its "suites," Hyatt wouldn't be able to pay me to stay here, let alone ask me to.

Just to echo what others have said: off-strip hotels might as well be in Peoria. The Bellagio, on the other hand, is arguably the most iconic hotel in Vegas right now (and has been for the last several decades). Hyatt isn't just going to walk away from that so they can brand some glorified Embassy Suites away from 99% of the tourist traffic.

I live in Las Vegas. The Rio is a sad, dead, depressing empty casino and hotel. The location sucks as well. Even renovated, why would a tourist go there when they have multiple options on the strip?

Ah, if the rooms go for $19.99? I can seeing booking rooms here for the WOH night credits while actually staying at the Bellagio. So, I take back my original criticism. WOH good job! Go team!

PS - I can only hope they rebrand it and introduce a Globalist themed casino.

Do you honestly think they'll sell rooms for $20/night after spending millions on renovations?

Excalibur goes for $21/night. It was built in 1990; it looks like not much has changed since 1990.

As a tourist, the strip hotels cover every price range. You have super cheap, mid tier with really high quality, and upper end. What's a Rio-Hyatt going to add? Las Vegas for a tourist is just the strip and Fremont.

No, of course not. I was just joking. I think they'll price it in the $150 range? Personally, absent any substantial incentives, I can't fathom a reason any tourist would stay here, unless it's $19.99. Not that I'm a big fan of the Ex, but at least they're on the Strip. The Rio? Mind as well be in Siberia, far as I'm concerned.

Completely agree. Especially when you can get Hilton, Conrad, Palazzo, MGM for $100-200. It's perplexing how the Rio is just not demolished.

LOL...Yeah, seriously. The Rio has like no reason to exist in a place like Vegas. While I'm sure those running Hyatt (assuming the braintrust behind the WOH rebranding have all been shown the door or reassigned to HR) are very astute, this decision is extremely puzzling, at least to me.

Is no one aware that the A's are quite possibly moving to a new stadium that will be built in the parking lots adjacent to Rio? If it happens Dreamscape and Hyatt stand to make a windfall at that location.

Maybe they think the property will be more attractive when Elon drills his Boring loop into the basement.

Hyatt isn't behind the redevelopment of the Rio, they are just paid to flag and manage the property. So even if it doesn't do well, they still make money.

Just because OP heard about it doesn't mean it is finalized
