Being checked in at two properties at the same time
 

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find in search.

I'm wondering if there are any issues in checking in to one hotel for a 10 day stay and then leaving for the weekend while staying checked in and check in to a second property for 2-3 nights before returning to the original?

Any concerns with this? Would I still get full credit for both stays?

No, beyond the possibility the first property would think you have left and check you out. Leave items in the room, put out the Do Not Disturb sign, decline housekeeping, have the record noted you want the room the entire time, leave a sign, something. It still might happen, but you can shrink the possibility.

You are very unlikely to get stay credit for both rooms. IT is supposed to catch that and usually does.

(Can create an IT hiccup. Keep the paper folios till you verify enough nights of stay credit and points have posted).

Thanks for the response. I would likely be leaving a suitcase and many clothes in the room. For context, staying in London and going to Paris for the weekend. I think I would have a good case for getting credited both stays. Not like it's two rooms in the same city.

Good luck with the argument about double stay credit for paying for two rooms in two places. As you noted, it has been tried, and discussed here, once or twice a year since Noah parked the Ark. Hyatt IT has a good record of picking that up and not granting double stay credit. Their philosophy is you can only sleep in one place in a night. So one stay credit for you. If you figure out a dependable work around to get two credits we're all ears. To them it is like phantom stays. A logical case can be made, but either you are in the bed are you are not.

Since you are in Britain or going there soon: What is the weather like in London and the Scottish Highlands in October, and in April? Trying to balance a trip there next year with some expiring pre-paid nights in Hawaii.

A few people have said that they have received credit (in error) for their second room. It's not supposed to happen but you might get lucky.

As for getting checked out of the room, you can just mention it to the FD or staff if it's just a couple days. There's nothing wrong with leaving your stuff and keeping your room for a few nights on a long stay and that way there's no chance you get checked out (although I think the risk would still be very low either way)

There are two types of people:

1. People who book the nested stay at another chain - 100% safe and no questions asked
2. People who book the nested stay at the same chain hoping to get lucky - then complain when there is a problem with points, stay credit, etc. (often with the longer stay)

There’s a moderately high risk you’ll only get credit for the shorter stay. Don’t say nobody warned you.

You could try it, and if doesn't work, contact your concierge and explain you had business in Paris over the weekend and didn't want to check out only to have to check in again. It MIGHT work. It also might work if someone makes a mistake. Not likely, but it has happened. I know some people who have received 2 credits when changing countries/time zones and shown proof.
