I haven’t been to Madrid since 2006, but I’m unusually excited about this property. Love the location, the design is beautiful and finally, Thompson is expanding beyond the US!

Here’s hoping I can plan a trip to Spain soon and check this one out…

Any thoughts on what category it would be? 5 or 6?

Agree that the expansion of the Thompson brand beyond the US (and Mexico!) is great news.

Hmm, still says Mid-2022 and policies page was updated

Question is, does Mid-2022 indicate a May, June or July opening?

This hotel looks like it should be good - not too small rooms, especially for the location. Looking forward to trying it... when it opens!

Any guesses on what Category this one will fall into?

Hyatt Centric Madrid, Hyatt Regency MR are a 5.
Hyatt Regency Hesperia is 4.
With SHL there is Urso at 6.

Will Thompson try to be the top of the range at a 6?

Should be a 5, but obviously could be a 6.

The fact that the Thompson brand is essentially unknown in Europe won't help it get the price premium to justify a Cat. 6, but if it's seriously nice then it will be a 6 to start out.

(in the same way that Andaz Prague is starting as a 6. when I would have guessed 4 or 5)

If it is a 5, it is an instant booking for my trip this September. At 6 I will just probably just stay across the street at the Centric instead.

Looks like this hotel has been slotted into Category 4.

That may change before opening, however...
