Did the math so far for 2023:

Hyatt - 1 suite upgrade out of 3 stays (33%)
Marriott - 29 suite upgrades out of 43 stays (67.4%)

I'll say it again - the lack of tier differentiation at Hyatt for suite upgrade priority is a detractor for the program, and Lifetime Globalist at $200,000 spend is not a realistic or valid substitute.

An n of 3 is hardly a credible basis for a conclusion I'm 11 suite upgrades out of 12 stays with Hyatt so far this year. I batted at around 90% last year as well over ~40 stays.

I think I have been 100% upgraded to suite over the last 100+ nights, with a significant proportion being specialty suites. Hyatt has been very good to my family.

I take it back. I stayed at one HP and didn't get a suite. But all the PHs, Alilas I have.

Well, had I received upgrades at the rate you all do, then my results, even out of 3 stays, would be higher. 33 percent is quite far off from the 90-100 percent seen by other posters. All of my stays are one-night stays, so upgrades should be easier for hotels to provide to me rather than more difficult.

I'm 8/11 since December 1. The misses were HR Seattle (twice), where no suites were available (I book the corner king, which is a very nice room), and HR SFO, where I've never gotten one. I excluded GH Berlin, where I booked a suite on cash. Also excluded two SLH stays, though we were upgraded to a suite at Narcisse Blanc in Paris (lovely stay, probably best ever in Paris).

Perhaps more significantly, I've not had any "I'd like to speak with the manager" check-in moments with Hyatt. Which I just had at Westin St. Francis last week (resulting in FDM very reluctantly putting me in a suite).

We're 2 out of 11 on suite upgrades at participating Hyatts without using TSU. At Hyatt House we're actually 1 for 1 (from a studio to a 1 bedroom) A few times there was suite availability during the day but by the time we checked in late at night it was gone.

This goes back to Q4 of 2021 when I became a glob.

Recent stays, all booked as 1 King base level room:
Hyatt Regency Portland: King Corner Suite
Hyatt Regency San Francisco SOMA: King Suite
Andaz Prague: Junior Suite (what they consider a standard suite)
Park Hyatt Vienna: Park Suite Deluxe

Over the past 6 months I have had 10 Hyatt stays including the above. Usually 2-3 nights, some longer. All booked as base rooms. Only 1 stay wasn't upgraded as the hotel was sold out, though I did get a high floor with a nice view. 8 stays were upgraded to a standard suite and my most recent stay in Vienna was to a premium suite.

Upgraded to Corner King Vineyard View with Balcony (Jr. Suite) at check in
* No more Jr. Suite or Vineyard View Suite using Suite Upgrade Award

Grand Hyatt San Francisco (1 night):
Booked Standard 1 King Bed
Upgraded to Executive Suite City View at check-in
* I was told this is a one time courtesy upgrade.

The disparity between these posts is shocking - it's crazy how different experiences with specific programs are.
