I was upgraded mid-stay at Park Hyatt Paris and PH Tokyo that’s why I was very surprised by his agressive stand.
I also asked at check in but they told me they’re completely booked for the week.

IMO there's nothing wrong with properties adhering to the rules, so long as they do that in both directions.

Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport. NYE for 1 night. Booked standard room. All suites gone 1-2 days in advance.
upgraded to best king room facing the Park on the RC Level 9. will check out the evening offerings in the finally open club (only evenings though, breakfast still in restaurant)

Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro
Booked a 1K standard room for 3 nights and the night before saw I was upgraded to a grand suite overlooking the pool and ocean. Suites have been unavailable for weeks prior so this was quite the surprise. Room wasn’t ready until 4 so they gave me another room a few doors down until it was ready.

Regular visitor here, always upgraded as a Globalist from base King room to an Executive Suite. On current stay, received an email from the GM several days prior to arrival informing me that I had been upgraded to a suite!

Booked a king bed balcony which was the lowest for sale at the time and got a corner ocean view suite. 2/2 in getting this particular upgrade. Just a bigger room with 2 TVs but appreciated nonetheless.

Hyatt Regency Vancouver. Yet another property that showed standard suites when checking in but claims
the suites are dirty, under maintenance, or some other excuse to not upgrade. I directly asked what would have happened if I booked the suite with cash and the front desk agent said they probably would have it ready 🤔
