I tried to get my certs extended or converted a couple more times before expiration and was declined. I tried again this morning, after the certificates expired, and was also declined.

If they insist on using the Covid rationale for going the cheapo route, why shouldn't I? Again, the tit-for-tat thing.

If I recall, I've always qualified by the requisite 55 or 60 nights in addition to base points. I'm not sure what loyalty means to WOH, but it's their definition. In other words, I want more than a long nicely written letter (which I barely read, by the way) with a bunch of market fluff welcoming me as a Globalist preparing me for pared down room service, lounges closed or opened with pared down offerings and how suites are scarce. Value my loyalty? Give me my tangible perks & benefits--I don't give a rat's a** about whatever WOH's marketing is peddling this week.

No question that many hotels have used Covid as an excuse to cut our benefits, but IMO Hilton and Marriott and IHG have been worse. Heck Hlton went from a free breakfast to given some credit per day that is use or lose and with it you can get a cup of coffee and a muffin. The airlines are no better either. Worse yet is I wouldnt be surprised to see many cuts become permanent.

It reminds me of a friend who was made a VP where she worked, when I asked how much more she will make she said nothing but Im now a VP. I countered Id rather be called the janitor and make $25 more a week, then to get a new title and alot more work and $0 extra to show for it. So in rare cases things probably will never return to the good ole days unless it wont cost the hotel/carrier anything out of pocket and I ex[ect even more cut backs going forward as long as they feel they can get away with it

Customer service excellence is when I only need to call around once per year for relatively significant stuff, not for pieces of crumb sprinkled here and there.
Exactly right. 90% of my hotel nights are solo business travel, and I still hate — and mostly refuse — to stand there at check-in and beg for upgrades, etc. I can't imagine standing there with a wife or girlfriend and begging for things that I was supposed to receive without a word per the T&Cs.

Not sure what you mean by this, but I haven't seen examples of this. I've been Globalist/Diamond for at least a decade, but as of now, I'm looking at dropping to no status on March 1* because the Hyatts in my two main work destinations remain closed. I also had four TSUs and a Chase free night disappear from my account with no extension and no points.

(*Well, the CC status, which is mostly useless.)

What I was told and meant was say you lived in Croatia and say there arent any Hyatts at all and the Govt didnt allow its citizens to leave the Country. Thats alot different then I live in say WV and there arent say any Hyatts in that State but nothing stopped me from driving or flying to the other 49 states. So IMO in your case its SOL since the 2 Hyatts you stayed in were closed the other xxxx Hyatts in The US werent closed.

I am not saying that Hyatt should or shouldn't extend the certs or give points. What I meant to convey is that in the past, the giving of points happened after the expiration of the certs so that the lack of offers given at this time was not surprising for the certs that were still valid.

I would like to know if there are any cases of certs getting successfully converted to points, where ALL of the following are true:
- Those awards are from Chase free nights
- Awards expired on 12/31/2021 ( not other dates )
- Have 9 or less nights in 2021 ( including the 5 nights given by the card)

If you did met all the above condition and did try to get the free night converted / extended:
-Did you contact before or after 12/31/2021?
-Contact method ( call / chat / twitter etc.)
-Successful of converting or not
-How many points did you get per night
- Ethnicity / Race

Let's see if we get a pattern here.

=====
My own datapoint:
- 7 nights in 2021 ( 5 from card, 2 from card spend, no actual stay )
- 2 Chase award nights expired 12/31/2021
- DECLINED: Called on 12/27/2021, promised it will be converted to 10K per night to get off the phone. Points not showing, called on Sunday 1/2 and they walked back on promise, citing the 10 night requirement. Call back on 1/3, same result.
- Asian-American

I really do not think that race is a factor here. How could it be? It's certainly not on my Hyatt profile and they can't see me over the phone.

It seems to be luck of the draw based on which agent is reached. I had free Chase nights converted to points with no actual stays and less than 10 "nights" on the books.

Fruitless chat contacts before the 12/31 expiration, but a phone call after the 12/31 expiration worked. Just keep trying.

I can't even get through to an agent via phone or chat to request points for my 4 expired CAAs. I tried every day last week and yesterday. I guess I'll just keep trying.

Your name is on your profile. When you talk over the phone they can determine accent. That might be enough info to determine ethnicity.

Never getting old seeing the complaint about status obtained from OPM anyway

As for as extension goes, anyone ever thought that maybe this is due to Hyatt IT inability to remove those certs immediately? Hence the CSR/Concierge/twitter rep are instructed not to offer anything for until the very last moment/expired? AFAIK, those awards certs doesn't disappear from one's account even after points have been issued.

Time to close this thread. We will need new data points soon for the February CL certificates expiring. I've got 4.

This thread has switched to status extensions rather than certificate extensions and has gone off the rails.

If anyone is still interested in the original topic (I just skipped a page of unrelated posts), I had a weird situation.

In late Dec, I asked for 10K for my 1-4 expiring on 12/31/21.

They said no. Wait until it expires.

Early Jan, I go back and they say that I had no cert expiring 12/31/21. But they did find one that expired in Nov, they said, and gave me 10K for that.

Sure seems like the Dec rep saw that my cert hadn't expired, but maybe they never checked?

Anyway, I'm even, so I'm not complaining, but I'm wishing that:

1-I had screenshots and
2-these had serial numbers.

Not saying making things up but its hard to believe they stay at only 2 Hyatts and both are closed and have been for the whole year, thou its possible. and there arent any Hyatts in any other location where they have clients or go for leisure
