The only thing leaving with regards to Rio and Hyatt is their New Hotel Bonus which is 500 points per night until the end of June.

Rio is not leaving Hyatt, once their renovations are complete they will be a Destination by Hyatt Brand.

I'm still a little confused, so my question is: Do I get any benefits, as a Globalist, if I book through the Rio Website? Do I have to pay the resort fee, do I get qualifying nights?
Thanks

No, only booking through Hyatt gets you credit and benefits with Rio, Hyatt doesnt want another MGM Fiasco with comp nights or $9 nights getting credit.

Hyatts newest brand only earns 2.5 points per night instead of the standard 5, definitely dont want that happening with Rio too.

Did anyone else get this card for breakfast? It doesnt say anything about globalist menu, it just says charge to the room?

Theyve handed out these cards along with Water Cards hit or miss since mid-April, nothing new.

This thread is in the top 40 all time of posts on the Hyatt forum and is by my accounting the only thread in that top 40 to have been created in the last 6 years (and really it is about half a year old in reality because the creation date includes the first mention of the Rio becoming a Hyatt). Posters have gone from detailing every single detail of how to abuse and crush the early generous breakfast, to disappearing from the discussion to being replaced with endless laments over what was the oh so obviously inevitable reductions. Blogs (and I use the term loosely) have referenced the breakfast "scandal" at the Rio.

Don't we all think the level of collective insanity has reached the peak now with regards to a budget basement low level Las Vegas casino property with a mediocre to average breakfast? I would argue it is time for a modicum of rationality and sanity to return to this forum.
Agreed. Rio is a casino with a hotel attached. Hyatt members are not driving the revenue numbers at Rio. Someone paying $50/night (or less) is nowhere near as important as someone betting $50/hand (or more).
I wonder if the Hyatt Place LV gets this much scrutiny... their rates are much higher.

Lol I feel much more important staying as a Globalist than someone who bets $50+ per hand.

I lost $1,000 at Rio my first stay in March using a players card and betting $50 or more per hand. I received $25 in FreePlay and up to 5 comp nights but resort fee not waived.

The reason for so much scrutiny is due to Rio being basically a flaming pile of garbage in a graveyard last year (by many accounts), then trying to rebrand themselves this year.

For me its noticeably busier, with noticeably higher rates.

As you know, losing $1000 doesn't mean much in the eyes of the casino. But not getting into theo discussions here.

So Rio is undergoing a transformation. Why do people care so much? It's beyond obsession at this point.

I only mentioned because the previous posted said betting $50 a hand should get you more than a Globalist, which for me does not at all. Doing that same amount of play (same bets, same time) at Cosmopolitan got me - Comp rooms including resort fee waived, dining credits, and $75 Free Play. Given Rios state one would think theyd be slightly more generous.

A transformation is a massive understatement. To me its basically like what happened with Eddie Murphy in Trading Places.

Also, I dont think its beyond obsession at all, I mean look at the MGM threads related to Hyatt theyre quite plentiful. If MGM offered actual upgrades and breakfast those threads wouldve been much larger as welljust my observation.

The same breakfast as others reported. Not the worst quality but not the best either. They sit you in a separate side of the restaurant. They had some coffee airports that were cold and prebaked low quality cookies out with some juices you could take if you want. Hyatt is paying Rio $51.00 for two adults. You would think that they would allow a customer to order anything off the normal menu

As for the Cookies I thought they were quite good in comparison to many cookies Ive had over my lifetime, at least the chocolate chip were. Id happily pay $2-$3 per cookie with their flavor and size somewhere on the strip or at a mall.

I agree theyre not fresh baked, but not bad by any means, none of the ones we got over our 3 days recently were poor quality, again only vouching for Chocolate Chip.

As for cost - Who told you Hyatt is paying them $51 in reimbursement for 2 adults??? My understanding is the hotel covers breakfast as part of participating in the WOH program, Hyatt covers the gratuity. The actual cost for the food to the hotel is likely only about $3 per person in actual ingredients wholesale cost.Though thats just my understanding.

On my last stay at the rio my very moderate play got me a offer of comp room for 3 nights and waived resort fee plus 300 free play and 200 resort credit

Pretty close to my MGM offer and rio says they will match your competing offer at other casinos.

My problem is the only reason I would stay at the rio is the Hyatt credit, if I dont need the credit or get the credit I dont see myself booking the rio.

Next trip is a solo trip so I will keep an eye out on whats offered. I wonder what would happen if I book a room on comps AND via hyatt 🤣
