Hyatt APAC Tier Status Extends for One Additional Year

Hyatt to extend tier expiration date for members residing in APAC from 2021 Feb to 2022 Feb due to COVID-19.

Club/suite upgrade certificates as well as free night certs that expire in 2020 will also get a new expiration date (Dec 31, 2021).

APAC includes Australia, Greater China, Cambodia, Guam, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Saipan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Source?

I might have to move my account to Australia, as this would be quite useful.

That would be awesome if Hyatt does this and much appreciated. The corona virus is putting a world of hurt on my businesses so hitting 60 will be tough, especially with travel restrictions.

If it's APEC addresses, this isn't helpful for those who often travel TO the APEC region and now can't/won't due to the WuFlu.

Lucky from OMAAT just got a confirmation about this
https://onemileatatime.com/hyatt-extending-status-asia/

World of Hyatt extending status for members

World of Hyatt will be offering members residing in the Asia Pacific region a series of tier status and benefits extensions, including:
  • Qualifying World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist, and Globalist members will now have a new tier expiration of February 28, 2022 (rather than February 28, 2021), to maintain their elite tier status and benefits
  • Currently valid Suite Upgrade Awards, Club Access Awards, and Free Night Awards that expire in 2020 for qualifying members will be extended through December 31, 2021
World of Hyatt is working on making these updates, and expects the changes to be fully made by March 31, 2020.

Hyatt will be communicating directly with eligible members through email, My Hyatt Concierge, and WeChat. Members with questions can contact Hyatt’s global contact centers, reach Hyatt via WeChat (WeChat ID: HyattHotels), or email [email protected].

World of Hyatt is also working to evaluate tier and benefit extensions for global members who travel frequently to the Asia Pacific region, though nothing exact has been announced on that front yet.

In Lucky’s blog it says they are considering something for frequent travelers to APAC in addition to residents.

Sorry, typo or more likely autocorrect. I meant APAC.

An enormous thank you to Hyatt if this goes through! I'm not too far from lifetime Globalist... thought I would complete this year but clearly will need a few extra months as I'm also under a travel ban at the moment.

I think today is their quarterly earnings release and call? Should be interesting to see what their expectations are for the impact of the novel coronavirus.

Where did you get the list of APAC countries from? Hyatt doesn't seem to have an APAC region. When you search for hotels on the map there is "Asia" and "Australia & Pacific". Thta said, there have been promotions and advertisements in the past that refer to APAC.

Based on the Press Release, they didn't specify a list of countries. They only just said Asia Pacific Region.

In response to the COVID-19 situation, World of Hyatt will be offering members residing in the Asia Pacific region a series of tier status and benefits extensions

World of Hyatt is also working to evaluate tier and benefit extensions for global members who travel frequently to the Asia Pacific region. More information will be shared with qualifying members as it becomes available.
The only thing to do know is wait to get contacted by Hyatt or after a certain amount of time contact your concierge.

What happened to NZ? Or is it part of "Greater Australia"? <joke>

Wow, this is very generous of Hyatt. But what's to stop people from "moving" themselves to APAC?
