an early morning into SLO is ideal to hit Cayucos for sea salt cookies, then Hearst Castle, and McWay Falls before ending up at Ventana - saves a lot of backtrack driving

I just completed a stay here. I flew into Monterey and the drive is only about an hour to ventana. Beautiful drive down. Program your GPS from the airport (or from your hiking spot) as the reception is limited. I used a points redemption. They upgraded to a forest suite from a regular room (I am an explorist). Checkout extended to 1:30 PM. Btw, I tried to do the mcway falls hike, but it was closed. There is probably an alternative way to get in. The hotel is secluded and beautiful; however, go out and do some hiking. There are so many areas that are picturesque.

I met a few people from other states like Texas and they all flew into SFO and drove down.

Would like to take 22 bus from Monterrey to avoid driving. Wondering if hotel has house car to travel short distances. Also, is post ranch inn walkable from ventana?

Post Ranch Inn will send a car to pick you up at Ventana for a lunch or dinner reservation. But, rent a car. The whole point of the resort is to take in Big Sur.

I have a few nights here in early Oct as a Globalist on points. Safe to assume parking is either free for all guests (due to remoteness) or included due to Globalist award stay?

Parking is obviously free, yes. You're in the middle of nowhere, it'd be hilarious if they charged for parking on top of the $1000+ rates.

To avoid Post Ranch's ridiculous dining prices for lunch, drive about 5 minutes south from Ventana and have a nice and MUCH less expensive lunch at Nepenthe. The views, I think, are more spectacular than at Post Ranch. It's super casual and best only on a sunny day when outdoor dining offers the best views.

It should be noted that Nepenthe will be much more crowded than the Posr Ranch Inn. When we went a few montha ago there were many people enjoying the food and views.

Part of the hefty price tage at both Ventana and Post Ranch is from the exclusivity.

We are huge fans of Nepenthe and Post Ranch and will visit Ventana for the first time this summer. TBH the prices at Nepenthe and Ventana’s Sur House aren’t that different
