Will buying a $300 GC at Hyatt Place Trigger Credit for Promo?

I needed to buy a $50 gift card to make it to $300. The HP I was staying at didn't have them (San Jose Airport). HP Fremont, CA had them.
The $50 credit posted within 2 weeks after I passed $300 in spend.

I never received my $50 statement credit. 
I didn't buy gift cards either. Just curious if anyone else had this problem. I called it in and they asked me to read off the 100 or so characters in the link from the offer email. Hahaha. I actually did it. Took several minutes. I'll think twice before biting on another one of these promos.
