"Unfortunately early check in and late check out are not available for this stay"
I just booked a one night stay in a room with one king for about a month from now at an ordinary USA HP using a reasonably cheap (but qualifying) refundable rate plan. Availability in the hotel seems good, so there's no reason to suspect a special event. In fact, I was able to pick a "high floor" room category for the same price. I'm a Globalist and was logged in. I didn't check the boxes for anything but standard check in/out times because I don't yet know my schedule. Nevertheless during the reservation process a bold message in colored type face appeared saying "This stay is not eligible for early check in or late check out." I don't understand. AFAIK as a Globalist I have a guaranteed 4 pm checkout. Can anyone explain this? [I hope it's not an enhancement to the WOH program.] My guess is that this reflects the new HP attempt to sell different check in/out times, but as a Globalist my 4 pm guaranteed late checkout should not be affected. |
Bonvoyed.... ooops this is hyatt forum. You got Worlded. hopefully it will be different upon arrival at the property. |
Maybe it's a resort 🤣
Seriously though, I'd expect that this is referring to the paid early check in / late check out you can get at HP now. You should be fine with a 4pm checkout as globalist. If not, escalate. The hotel does not have the right to limit this benefit (unless they are a resort or have a casino) |
Same message for HP heathrow that I just booked for tonight. Will see what happens (don’t need them anyway)

I made a reservation at a HP in a resort area this summer. I plan on asking for both the early and late options, though I wonder if they will let me. I'll keep you posted.

Since HP may now offer early check-in as well as late check-out, perhaps the hotel provided a heavy-handed message going out to all guests regardless of status. It may have been a clumsy implementation, because the T&C say that Globalists get late check-out. I can't imagine a non-full service Hyatt Place being classified as a "resort", but what do I know.... It is probably best to contact the property and see what they can offer. Keep us posted about what happens.

The HP I reserved is right on the ocean in Ocean City Md. It appears to be a "regular" HP as far as rooms go, but their rates are definitely in the high end resort end - like nearly $600 for a regular room.

Was just told by the Philly Bellevue that they won't guar a late checkout until the morning of checkout, because they are a smaller hotel. I said, I thought that was only restricted at resorts, she said that was not the case. Website now says as below. Did this change??

Edit: my friend just stayed at that hotel and had a horrible stay. Complained to the manager and got all his points refunded (2 nights worth -- he did not request this) Unfortunately the staff there seems not to know what they are doing. You should escalate to the manager. |

(e) 4:00 PM Late Checkout: Upon request, Globalists will receive a 4:00 PM late checkout (local hotel time) on day of their departure at Hyatt hotels, provided that (a) late checkout is subject to availability at hotels with a casino, and Hyatt resorts; and (b) late checkout is not offered at Hyatt Residence Club resorts. (PLEASE NOTE: The distinction between a Hyatt resort and a Hyatt hotel may not always be obvious and Members are encouraged to call a Hyatt Global Contact Center for help determining a hotel’s or resort’s designation. Please visit hyatt.com for contact information.)
Right from the Terms and Conditions. Resorts and casinos are the only ones that can claim it is not available (and it is not a blanket no, it is a "subject to availability"). |
I am no longer finding that in the T&C but I'm sure I am missing it. But now I see the Globlist summary page shows: "Enjoy 4 p.m. late checkout, upon availability"
I'm really worried this my indicate a change to this benefit, which is very important to me... |
You will find this when logged in, on the "my account" page at the bottom - "Your membership benefits":
