Still here on Jan 2, 2019 .... when was that supposed to change? According to the other thread, that change takes affect in 2020.

I see that now. Thanks!

Right. 2020 = "next year."

The biggest benefit, to me, is that you can conduct business by email.

I was also confused, I took it to mean that you needed 60 nights for the 2020 qualification, which would be 2019...

No.

Requalifying with 55 nights is a (full) globalist benefit.

The status that you earn in 2018 gives you globalist for 2019. So, a benefit of qualifying in 2018 is that, in 2019, you need only 55 nights to requalify.

Hyatt (fairly) decided that they were not going to remove a status benefit after many people were close to achieving that status (or had already achieved it) That would not be very fair... if you get 90% of the way to getting status, and then they decide to remove one of the benefits of that status.

Instead, mid-way through 2018, Hyatt changed the benefits for people who qualify in 2019. They will no longer get the benefit of being able to requalify with 55 nights (in 2020).

IMO Hyatt did this the right, fair way. Kudos to them.

I'd say yes, you will be GLOB until Feb 2020, but you'll need 60 nights next year to requalify for GLOB until Feb 2021
Is your statement above correct? As of today my account online shows 55 nights required to renew Glob, so it would seem to imply that I need 55 nights in 2019 to extent Glob until Feb 2021, and therefore the kick up to 60 nights required is only for nights in 2020 for benefits until Feb 2022?

Sorry if I am adding to the confusion I would have thought your statement was correct but what I see in my account seems to contradict it.

sorry ... my bad... yes.... 55 nights to requalify in 2019 for 2020, valid till Feb 2021. Thereafter always 60 nights to requalify.

However, the big caveat there is that unless you get to 55 nights by the end of Feb, you'll likely be subject to the milestone rewards. Which means you'll get globalist status at 55, but won't get the 60-night milestone benefits, such as 2 suite upgrades and a Cat 1-7 cert.

So this year we get full Glob benefits at 55 nights (during 2018) but for next year's full Glob benefits (even if they're renamed), we really need 60 despite verbiage that we can still requalify with 55 nights during 2019? Sounds like doubletalk to me.

That's not at all clear.

I strict reading of the T&C would have implied that 55-night globalists would not get the free night, the TSUs, or the concierge this year either. Those were all listed as benefits of getting 60 nights, NOT benefits of globalist status. And in fact, people who got globalist from a promo or comp did not get them. However, 55-night globalists did get them.

Small steps. Moving from 25 stays or 50 nights to 60 nights for top tier and four confirmed suite upgrades seemed like a big jump, so the offer to renew at 55 nights made it sound better and be a bit more doable if one just invests in the first year to get over the WOH Glob threshold. Now Hyatt has decided (or perhaps they always knew) that they want 60 nights for Glob benefits, but they're phasing it in over a couple years. In a couple years, the two TSUs for fewer nights, etc. will probably disappear too.
