Aside from calling in, is there any way to check availability for premium suite upgrade awards using points? I have been told a few times that even though a premium suite is available to book using cash, it is not available for upgrades using points. Apparently there is a separate inventory for upgrades using points...

I'm in Beijing next week.... wonder if I should upgrade at PH. Those photos look gorgeous. Booked elsewhere for now but that might be a good choice for sure in future. Thanks for sharing photos.

It's my understanding that the inventory is the same, but that only certain types of premium suites are available and at some properties none of their premium suites are eligible. So you may be looking at premium suites that aren't eligible either because that property has no premium suites available for upgrades or only a lower or different premium suite is available for upgrades. Unfortunately, from my experience it is impossible to tell what each property offers without calling in and the only way I've been able to confirm what a property offers (or if they don't offer anything) is to just ask about a zillion different dates. If I'm continually told there is no availability for a certain premium suite (even though every type of suite is available for those dates in my example) it becomes safe to assume that premium suite is not eligible.
It's also been my experience that once I've confirmed a premium suite type is eligible, I've been able to book it with points any time it was available for the standard cash rate.

Used premium suite upgrade and booked a best wish suite for 9k points on paid rate. Not much info on wish lounge or butlers but room looks amazing. Staying 2 nights in Barcelona don't know if I should stay here or more central hotel without all the perks.

Scored a 9,000 point Premium Suite Upgrade at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for this August. Traveling with my two young kids so this is a huge upgrade from a standard two queen type situation. Best $/point value I’ve received in a long time, $400 of room rate premium ($289 standard vs $689 suite) for 9k points/night!

At PH Zurich paid 6k/night for upgrade to a Park Suite and they upgraded me further to a Corner Suite. I actually prefer the Park Suite, but felt it would be bad form to reject the upgrade as they were so gracious about it.

I'm in a Highland Suite, which was the only option given. Seems to be the larger of the suites but not necessarily the nicest views? They boast how "quiet" it is, and we all know what that means. Jack Scott and Mount Powell were slightly more expensive on room rate (not by much), so clearly the Highland is considered the lowest of the premium despite the extra space. 1 BR/closing door is really what matters most to us so kids can go to bed before us and we don't need to sit silent with the lights out!
