I would walk across the border, don't drive. It's much easier to cross the border both ways if you don't have a car. Just take a cab from the border to the hotel. Also you need a passport to get back to the USA.

Also, if you're truly doing mattress running - consider signing up for the Citi Prestige when it becomes available again. The 4th night free is a great benefit! Super easy to use, and it counts as a normal night for Hyatt (and counts towards spend, points, nights, etc).

Have you consider the Hyatt credit card?
if you spend $5,000 using a payment service that charges you 3% it will cost you $150 for 2 nights or $75 a night. But you will get 2,500 points per night and save on trip related expenses (such as food and air ticket).
20 nights = $50,000 x 3% = $1,500 = 50,000 Hyatt Points.
