There is a Hyatt sub-forum for everything related to SLH, benefits, reviews, etc...
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/small-luxury-hotels-slh-772/
would be nice if the forum would get a boost Cheers 59Impala
Paid stays are 10%+ cheaper if booked as an SLH member on its website. It, also, includes continental breakfast. (note from @59impala. I paid a 30% premium for The Plymouth Southbeach.) (antonius66 I observed 10-30% premiums for 2 hotels in Portugal over SLH direct, closer to 50% over OTAs)
A limited number of reviews of SLH properties may be found in the Other Hotel Chains Forum.
World of Hyatt members can earn 5 Base Points for every $1 USD spent on qualifying room rates and can redeem points for free nights at participating SLH hotels. It doesn't stop there, members can also enjoy exclusive in-hotel benefits when staying at a participating SLH hotel.
Complimentary continental breakfast for two
Complimentary Wi-Fi
Early check-in 12:00pm (based on availability at check-in)
Late check-out 2:00pm (based on availability at check-in)
One category room upgrade (based on availability at check-in)

I just got the email about this and read through the T&C. It looks pretty poor for globalists -- you get nothing that any other WoH member doesn't get, and it's a lot less than what you get at a real Hyatt.
It seems ok if you don't have status. Free continental breakfast and 1-level upgrade subject to availability.
If you are globalist, you still pay resort fees, and no best room available upgrade, and no suite upgrades. It's a pretty big downgrade from a real Hyatt property.
I'm surprised that this partnership is so bad. They couldn't even negotiate best room available for globalists? It's a nice perk that doesn't cost the hotel too much.

It’s just another option that’s now available for the obviously small Hyatt portfolio. It’s like a condom: most would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
For Globalists looking for new options to keep Globalist status, this partnership does offer new chances in destinations where there were no options before. That’s a plus for such a small portfolio.

difference is starwood owns design hotels and can eventually shut it down
but yes, they (neither one) are not franchises so 'easy' to agree to try it out
hyatt and SLH never claimed it would be all did they?

No impact for the time being, and no incentive for Marriott (Starwood doesn’t exist any more!) to shut down a positive revenue stream (and future potential distribution stream with new property and marketing/management relationships). It’s a win-win for Marriott. Just as this partnership with SLH is a win-win for Hyatt.

My quick take -
I think it's a great option, but one that I'm not likely to take advantage of very often.
However, if/when I do use it, it will be really nice to accrue nights and points.
For example, 7 nights at $300/nt: That's a significant chunk of qualifying for status, and $2,100 spend would earn 13K points. And if I was going to be over 60 nights for the year, then that's most of the way towards getting an extra TSU or 10K bonus.

Is no one else worried that we now have a category 8? I know that right now it's just a handful of SLH properties, but obviously Hyatt can now re-classify it's own tier 7 properties as tier 8 next year or the year after. That would, in my opinion, be horrible for redemptions.

I think it’s only a matter of time, but frankly, it probably would have happened with or without the SLH partnership.

Glad I didn't keep my hopes up that the Maldives hotels would be available. Now I can enjoy the PH Maldives without feeling guilty that I could have picked the SLH Maldives resorts instead!

My early conclusion is that I will stay at SLH on points redemptions where it makes sense, but I won't stay on cash bookings if I need to pay extra on hyatt.com.
Example:
Hotel Le Strato (Courchevel, France), sample dates in February - 1200 EUR per night on hyatt.com vs 950 EUR on slh.com
Who is going to buy 1 night credit for 250 EUR per night? If you need to go there, just book on SLH.
40k pts redemption is good value though.

Hyatt has now filled a huge hole (Rome) with a spectacular property (Villa Spalletti Trivelli). This is in many respects the best Rome option offered by any major chain. And only a Cat 7.
