World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I swear I had spend that was under the threshold in 2019 but only crossed in 2020. However the nights posted to 2019 - when calling, how should I check with the agent?

Is the "cardmember anniversary date" 1) the day you initially opened the card, or 2) the annual date where your annual fee is charged?

Yes - the spending threshold was passed in 2019, but the statement closed in 2020. Some posts upthread made me believe others in a similar case had there elite nights posting in 2020 regardless..

If someone has an answer to this, I would love to know as well.

Well, my rambling, semi-coherent answer from Chase SEEMS to indicate 1 (so in my case, early April), but going to hold off on my big Fitness discretionary spend til May anyways.

That would make sense too, as it's really Month 1 of spending of the following year for you, with the AF charged at the end of it

Datapoint: I am at 7 elite nights for 2020 even though I definitely did not spend 5000 2020 YTD.

I have no idea...I think I did, based on rough, mental rounding calculations. I got 5 nights on 01/01/2020, and then they gave me 2 more right after my January 10 closing date.

In my specific case I have $24, 500 USD spent last few months of 2019 as I just got card and pushed for Globalist re qualification. I hit 60 nights and stopped.

I thus have $500 USD left to reach $5k for another 2 nights. I am at a Hyatt now and would like to pay for stay with card and thus get 2 nights credited for 2020 re qualification. I checked in Jan 2 and will check out Jan 5. My statement closes Jan 7.

Agent on phone says there is roll over and my Jan spend would mean I would cross 5k and thus get nights credited for 2020. hopefully he is right.

Incidentally the free night after $15, 000 spend is based on card member year not calendar and not every 15k. I was hoping to get another night for hitting 30k but I won't. I was also told that any spend before my anniversary start which will be in a few months won't count for new 15k. So this card will go back in the drawer until after my anniversary starts in a few months.
That was my understanding as well, but if you read my post about a mysterious free night certificate I got in 12/2019, I am not sure what to think anymore. I am sure I didn't spend $15,000 between July (month I upgraded from the old Hyatt to WOH) and December. I received a previous free night certificate issued on 02/11/2019. This was before my one year anniversary of when I got the old Hyatt card (which I understand is the anniversary date for the annual certs). I then got a free night cert issued on 06/2019 which would seem to correspond with my old Hyatt anniversary date. Then for some reason I received another cert on 12/2019. Again, I upgraded on 07/2018 so the 15K spending count should have reset in 07/2019 and again, I didn't come close to making 15K in spend in 5 months. Hmm...after looking at my Chase bill again, I guess I was a lot closer than I thought. Calculated $11,600+ in payments on the Hyatt from 06/2019-01/2020. But still not 15K. If I push back the transaction dates to 04/2019, then I am definitely over 15K. I wonder if they accidentally reset the counter on my old Hyatt card anniversary.

Are you sure that these are all certs from the credit card?

You also get a free night cert when you stay at your 5th, 10th, and 15 Hyatt Brand due to the "Brand Explorer" feature (these will be labeled "Promotional Awards" instead of "Standard Awards"). Then you also get one when you get to 30 qualifying nights in a year (that one will have a 6 month expiration; all the others are 12 month).

Well then I'm guessing you didn't get 50k base pts either.
