World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Getting Discoverist + the FNA every year makes it well worth it IMO

You can get Bonvoy Plat w/their new $650 CC, and you will have properties everywhere. You will also be dealing w/a dishonest, unethical company that allows its properties to go rogue and ignore benefits w/o any recourse.

I am kind of in the same situation as the OP. And I don’t think the Discoverist status and “free” night is ultimately enough for me to justify having the card. Yes, I can mathematically get a night at a hotel for the cost of the annual fee, which is generally somewhat profitable. But I have enough points and free nights in various programs from cards that it has limited appeal. And I don’t have a ton of one night stays in areas where a Hyatt cat 1-4 would be ideal. And for longer stays (resorts, international stays) I generally prefer Hilton where I can use my Diamond status. I have basically come to the conclusion that it really isn’t worth the mental energy to earn $50 or so. What has kept me from cancelling in the last six or so months is the back to back Chase spend promos that have let me earn 5X on groceries, gas and home improvement. If and when that ends, I will cancel and wait for an opportunity to get another signup bonus next year or so.

As for rogue properties… I think there are some in the Hyatt family as well. Hyatt Places that exclude their higher floor rooms from awards, certain Hawaii properties that are notorious here for not playing by the rules…

New targeted bonus offer

Just checked https://chase.com/mybonus and found I was targeted for a bonus for the upcoming quarter.
From Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, you'll earn 10X total Bonus Points at gas stations and 5X total Bonus Points on Amazon.com and at grocery stores for every dollar you spend on up to $1,500 in combined purchases with your World of Hyatt Credit Card.*
This is great because I actually needed about $1500 qualifying spend toward the $5k EQN threshold anyways. Good luck to everyone else needing a bonus!

Thanks for posting! My offer was 5k points for spending at least $3k in Q4. Easy peasy, but your offer is better, IMO. Like you I had to do that spend anyway for the cert and elite nights.

These offers are making it feel like Q4 2020 again and I kinda like it.

Does anyone have experience with the SLH property Les Sources de Cheverny in France -- does using the Chase WoH CC earn you 4x points just like a regular Hyatt property?

thanks! I completely forgot about that. I activated a 5% cash back on my freedom card for groceries and gas for the last 3 months. Does anyone know if it is retroactive? Nothing says I have to activate before the purchase. Also managed to get the 10% for the next quarter so I’m happy.

This is great, and can't ever recall 10% rebate on gas. So, I guess my fellow Bay Area tree-huggers are gonna just have to up with my super-duper gas guzzling sports car a while longer.

A Cat 1-4 (or any Hyatt award) does not have to be redeemed as a stand alone reward. I’ve redeemed several Cat 1-4s and Cat 1-7s in conjunction with longer paid or points stays, once or twice a mix of 3 different nights for the same stay (Cat 1-4, points, $$). Full duration of stay always acknowledged at check-in, never had to change rooms during the stay.

Always an important consideration. It’s all about the SUBs.
