World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage

Double qualifying nights for new cardholders
I’m in a bit of a predicament and could use some advice. I made Globalist (lite) this year via corporate 20 night challenge. I have 20 more nights booked at various Hyatts until the end of year. I’m considering applying for the Hyatt CC and saw there’s currently a 2x qualifying nights promo for new cardholders (current CC is CSR). If I get the card, this means I hit 60 nights (20 + 20*2) and can get 4 TSUs.
However, I know I won’t be able to requalify for Glob next year without the challenge. But if they offer the same double night promo sometime next year, then I’d probably be able to.
How often has this promo been offered? Do you think I should get the card this year or wait and see if they offer double nights again next year?

it’s the business card that earns the double elite nights, not the personal card. With that being said, if you get the card, sounds like you already have a path to globalist without any mattress runs. Either you get globalist for next year, or you don’t. Why wait for a promotion that may or may not come next year, for nights you may or may not have?

I don’t think hotel chains are hungry enough now to offer great promotions. We have to wait for the recession.

Sorry yes, forgot to specify I meant the business card, which is currently offering that promo. To clarify, I already have Globalist until 02/24 since I qualified earlier this year. The only benefit applying for the card now would be the 4 TSUs, and I’m wondering whether waiting until next year might make sense so I can potentially requalify.

At least I'm only $4K away from hitting the $15K requirement for a cat 1-4 free night certificate this year.

I'm trying to time getting this card when I'm under 5/24, and I'm curious if anyone has any advice. I'm usually a Marriott loyalist, but that's mainly because my stays consist of luxury hotels in San Francisco, and Hyatt doesn't really offer anything in SF of Ritz/StR caliber. With that said, when I travel for pleasure, I love Hyatt brands, particularly Alila, Andaz and Park Hyatt. As I am trying to re-qualify for Marriott Plat this year, and won't be able to achieve any meaningful Hyatt status before EOY, I was thinking to wait until Jan 2023 to apply for this card, despite the fact that I'll be under 5/24 in October.
I guess my questions is is it worth picking up the card in October, or should I just wait til next FY when my stays will be primarily in Hyatt properties? In the interim, I was going to pick up the AMEX gold card as I have a 10-20k in restaurant spends before the EOY (which will push my 5/24 status to Jan 2023). Any advice is appreciated !

The card offers 2x on restaurants, and I believe the 1x bonus points stack on the first 15k, giving you 3x on restaurants. If you think you will spend 15k at restaurants this year, you will get 45k points on that, plus the 30k sign up, plus you will get a free night. You can then get another free night for 15k next year on top of the free night upon renewal. You could have 3 free nights next year, on top of the 75k points for the card.
In your situation it may be worth just doing it now.

Does anyone have experience charging Hyatt restaurants to the WoH card? I thought this would be 4x points, since the Chase website states the category includes Hyatt hotels, restaurants, spas. I have had a hotel bar code as "Hyatt F&B," which gave 4x points. But I now charged a hotel restaurant bill to the card and it coded as a restaurant (2x). It's definitely part of the Hyatt, as it got 3x points under the current promotion. (Normally, I'd just charge the bill to the room, where it all gets 4x points.)
