World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

The point was that people who take 10,000 or 15,000 points two or three times in order to stay at a Cat 5-7, where rates can easily spike to over $1,000, are going to cost Hyatt more than the average of the current Cat 1-4 award redemptions, where breakage and sub-Cat 4 redemptions are common.

Hyatt gives a Cat 1-7 to everyone who stays 60 nights, so it’s not like Hyatt is opposed to giving out such free nights.

Nights are eligible for redemption for one year from the date it is deposited into your World of Hyatt member account. Please be aware that nights cannot be extended or reissued after their expiration.

It is absurd to take 10 weeks to post....
just when i thought there was something wrong, i see other people are experiencing delays in the anniversary free night too.

i still have the old hyatt CC and my free night ALWAYS posted a month before AF. this year, nothing posted yet. now, im being told to wait AFTER the AF? so its a new thing? i thought it was a glitch from all the recent changes to chase and hyatt.

It never made sense for people to get it before paying the AF.

I didn't get my Hyatt points to post from an early March closing date on my Hyatt Chase Visa. I called Chase and followed up a few days later with a call to Hyatt (I know it's a Chase issue but called Hyatt just to confirm). Included in my March statement were 40K bonus points - I don't need them right now but didn't want them to get lost in the ethernet.

The Hyatt rep told me that Chase has been experiencing issues since late Feb so if anyone else is wondering where their statement points are, it's due to problems at Chase. I don't know if it is effecting anniversary nights or 2 night credit/$5K spend, as I didn't qualify for either on my March statement.

I didn't get a date/time to expect this to be resolved; just posting this as information for anyone else wondering why they haven't seen Chase credit card points posted to their WoH account.

I don't think I've gotten all the spend-related stay credits I'm entitled to since migrating from the old card to the new card in January. But have been so swamped first quarter I can't say I've double-checked the blessings I am to receive for remaining faithful.

Thanks for reminding me checking that needs to go on the list. At least if the next billing cycle does not clean up the confusion.

Hyatt's systems should be more descriptive. My account has a bunch of entries that just say "bonus," with no description or additional info. One has to deduce that it's the nights from $5,000 increments.

FWFW (in case anyone is adding up transactions) there is a spend tracker in the app. That makes it really to see how close you are to the next 5k threshold. Don't forget to include any overflow from last year!

Go to "show all transactions" and switch to the "spending summary" tab.

Same here - I received my first month's points back in February but this last statement's points have yet to post and these include the 40K bonus. It's clearly delineated on my Chase statement. I reached out to both Hyatt and Chase via Twitter and Hyatt points to Chase, who told me to wait a week because there have been issues. Then, I waited a week and now they are telling me to wait another 3-5 business days. Pretty frustrating because I have an award stay that I was planning on booking with these points.

I can't seem to find this in my app! I am using an iPhone, and the app has been updated to the latest version. But try as I might, I can't find the spend tracker. There is no "show all transactions" anywhere as far as I can see.

I seriously doubt that Chase left this off their iphone app. On android, when you view a card, it shows the latest few transactions, and under them you can click "View All Transactions" to see a full list of transactions for that card. The resulting page has two tabs: an itemized list of transactions, and something that gives you a report about your spending, split by category.

It's on the website too (Things you can do > Spending Report)

I don't use any phone apps for my credit cards but if you want to get that information on a laptop/computer, once you pull up your account, go to:
Things you can do
Select Spending Report
It gives you Year-do-date spending and an option to go to 2018 year end summary

OMG. I am so dumb! LOL! I thought you meant the Hyatt app. So sorry! I am giggling like a teenage schoolgirl at my stupidity!
