World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Fair question for sure. I travel a decent amount, but just meant i don't have time to go specifically on mattress runs and was wondering what the various avenues are for getting to globalist. I am floating a lot right now so makes sense to try either way, just wanted to be as efficient as I can.

I tried to sort thru this thread and find the info I needed but am having a hard time.

My question is regarding the 2 nights/$5k spend.

I understand that from what we found out at the end of 2018 was that spend counted towards nights in the year it was spent, not based on the statement date. Does that mean the nights are added to you WoH account as soon as you hit each $5k or does it still take until the end of the statement cycle before they post.

I am looking to possibly hit 20 nights for club upgrades before a late July trip but it’s more than likely going to take until after my June statement but before my July statement to get to the next $5k threshold I need organically and need to know if I should plan accordingly.

If I were you, if this is something I really want, I want to earn it as soon as possible. Not worth risking it with day counts.....

Night credits post after the statement date.

Its a 5 night stay with a family of 4 so the club access would same us some cash for the trip. I guess I’ll have to figure out a way to get to that next level by my June statement...or just find a weekend to get 2 more nights in.

How much time do you need to have to apply the certs once they’re in your account. Let’s say they show in my my account on a Wednesday, can they be applied to a stay that starts on Friday?

What you want to do is pull forward some credit card spending, right? The simplest way to do that (in my opinion) is to do a quarterly federal income tax payment with a credit card. https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-tax...-or-debit-card
You can then reduce your W-4 withholding so that you don't overpay next year's taxes by too much.
This is not going to raise any eyebrows at the IRS. I've paid estimated taxes for many years, especially by Jan 15 of the next year if my withholding for the previous year was a bit light.
This is just another method of 'manufactured spending'.

new offer

DOC posted a new offer for this card that gives you 2 free nights, Cat. 1>7, after spending $6000 in 6 months. Plus a $50 stmt credit.

See details here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase...tement-credit/ Not sure if this is a referral link or not.

Even at Cat 7, it is only 30,000 points. The 60,000 point offer is (was) better and more flexible. But since the 60k offer is now 50k, the 2 nights may be a better one if you have some trips in mind.

I'm thinking of doing the same myself in June. Is there any reason I can't do that? How long do I need to wait after cancelling the old card to apply for the new one?
Does Chase claw back the anniversary night if you cancel the card after receiving the free night for the year? In my experience the AF posts after the anniversary night is added to the Hyatt account.

That's two nights. Cat 7= 30K x 2 = 60K points. Plus $50 statement credit. $50 better than 60K points if you've got plans for a Cat 7 stay.

But yes, I'm happy I got the 60K point offer.

No. As you say, night posts before AF.

Concrete example from a few months back: Free night posted at Hyatt from old Chase Hyatt card. A couple of weeks later, AF posted to Chase account. Waited a couple of weeks, then called in to cancel that card. Card cancelled, AF charge along with it. Waited a few more weeks and then applied for new WoH card. FWIW, the free night is still sitting attached to a reservation.

A lot people would prefer points than free nights. The points do not have hard expiration like the free nights do. You can redeem the points whatever the way you want, from category 1 to category 8 etc.

Yes, I fully agree with you and definitely prefer the flexibility, but in terms of raw 'value', the new offer is better.*

*If you plan on staying at least two nights at a Cat 7 in the next year.

There is no such thing of "raw" value. When we talk about "value", we always talk about the general public, not specific person or group of people. Common sense matters.

If you value this new offer more than old, then it is great for you. Go to get it.

We move on....

Thanks. I want to move to the new WOH card, but the free night from the old card should be posting soon so I'm weighing my options. I'm just not sure I have a reservation in mind to attach the free night right now.
