World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I applied for this card at chase.com on January 16 and was instantly approved. The welcome offer was (and still is) 50,000 bonus points, including 25,000 after spending $3k in the first 3 months and an additional 25,000 after spending $6k in the first 6 months.

The problem is that a Chase supervisor just told me that my account is only eligible for the first 25,000 points (for $3k of spend), and that there is no additional 25,000 points for $6k of spend. She said this is the offer that was attached to my application, and it cannot be changed. I don't understand how this could be possible because the bonus offer for this card has never been 25,000 points - it has always been either 60,000 or 50,000.

I didn't take any screenshots of my application because the Chase application form does not display the bonus offer anyway. What can I do to get this issue corrected? The Chase supervisor said that nothing can be done, but I simply don't believe that...
Did you do an upgrade from the old Hyatt card? Or if you had the old Hyatt card, did you close it out and then wait a few days to apply for the new card?

I had the old card, which I closed out and waited a few days to apply for the new one. I got in under the wire and got the 40K for $3K spend in 90 days + 20K for another $3K spend in 180 days. I just called to confirm that I have the two part offer.

It's possible that the offer attached to your new WoH card is an upgrade offer, not a new card offer.

If anyone cares...I got my 2 elite nights and free night today!

I didn't upgrade - applied for a new card, and I haven't held any Hyatt cards in the past.

As an update, I called again and this time was told that the account is eligible for the 25k + 25k = 50k offer. No explanation given about the conflicting information I received previously... but I've given up trying to understand why things go wrong at Chase.

Good to hear that you got the full offer.

Chase is a large company - mistakes happen, which is how HUCA (hang up call again) was born when dealing with large companies.

I have tried to sift thru this entire thread but I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for and I’m hoping someone can help, I’ve had some weird stuff happen and am trying to make sense of it.

My old Hyatt Visa has an anniversary date of 6/12. I upgraded from the old Hyatt card to the new card in late July on a 2000 bonus point promo.
On my August statement my entire AF from June was refunded ($75) but no new AF posted. A day later I inexplicably had another free night certificate in my Hyatt account that said it was from my credit card and my anniversary night from June was also still there.

A couple months go by and I still have both Anny nights and still no AF and my 2000 point bonus posts with the Nov statement.

Decenber statement hits and my $95 annual fee posts.

My question is: Is my new anniversary date in August when the new Anny posted, or in December when the new AF posted, or still in June from the date the original card was opened?

I am trying to figure out when I have to get to my $15k spend

thanks

I would suggest calling and asking. Keep it simple though:

"I'm wondering how much more I have to spend to get my free night, and what the deadline is".

That's it. Don't volunteer any more information.

I would suspect that they are carrying over spend from the other card for the purposes of the $15k spend, and that's where the free night came from. So most likely they will tell you, you have already received it, and you can get another free night for spend starting on XXX (your next anniversary date). But it may be something else.

There's no way that free night is from spend even from before the upgrade.

Until I upgraded and they started offering 2 nights/$5k and free night for $15k this was a sock drawer card for the Anny night and Discoverist status. I don't think it had ANY spend before I did the upgrade.

Ok, I called Chase and the rep said my anniversary date was still June from the old card. So I'm guessing that's when my next $95 AF will hit and when I'll get my next Anny night cert. Still have no idea where the certificate for the free night in August came from, maybe some promo I was unaware of and I just thought it was a card Anny night. Also not sure why it took until Dec for the new AF to be charged.

Does the $5k/2 night credit also start over on my anniversary date or is it rolling and independent of that date? IE if I am at 4900 by my June statement does it start over at $0 like my progress towards $15k or if i spend $100 in July will I get my 2 nights credit?

Independent of anniversary date. Additional detail from year-end datapoints - spend counts on the post date, not on the statement close date.

It sure would be useful if Chase had status bars with details about your progress towards $15k and $5k with expirations dates etc. Kind of like the Freedom status bar with info about your 5% Cashback progress.

I asked the Chase rep and she said she didn’t have access to that either.

I want to upgrade my Hyatt CC to WOH CC. My anniversary date is in March 2019. I spoke I with a Chase rep last night who said that I would NOT get the anniversary free night if I upgraded now (before the anniversary date on my "old" Hyatt CC) and suggested that I wait to upgrade until after my anniversary date so as not to lose the free night award. Does that sound right?

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I could not find it. I charged some money at an SLH hotel I booked through Hyatt.com in Rome on this new Hyatt credit card. Neither the deposit charged in advance of the stay nor the stay charges charged during the stay posted on this credit card as "Hyatt", but rather, just as "ordinary everyday purchases". Does anyone know the actual term and condition on this? I called Chase, but they were clueless on this technicality. I wonder what the rule is, and if this is possibly a coding error on the Chase side.

Partners, such as MGM and SLH, won't give you 4x. Only true Hyatt hotels.
