World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Finally received my Anniversary Night yesterday for the card upgrade. I was billed for the new annual fee on November 1st, 2018. I had always received my free night on December 10th, automatically (the last award was issued 12/10/2017). After numerous calls and messages over the past month, they finally issued the award and it showed in my Hyatt account yesterday. I was told something different every time I contacted them. For my troubles, they are supposedly giving me 1,000 Hyatt points. Haven't seen those points yet but I did let them know that the offer was pretty much insulting for as many times I contacted them. I received a letter from them this week that the Anniversary Award Night would be deposited 4 to 6 weeks after December 1st. It actually took 9 weeks to deposit. I paid 2 annual fees in 2018-- $75 on January 1st, 2018 (there was a partial credit in July when I upgraded the card) and $95 on November 1, 2018.

okay, so this confirms that anniversary date does not change based on card upgrade. It’s just that under the new card, the free night posts 10 weeks from anni date

I spent $15k+ in January 2019. Statement closed Jan 25. I received the qualifying nights but not the award night for $15k spend.

Did anyone get the award night posted in January?

The $15k award night is on a membership year basis and has nothing to do with Jan-2019. What is your membership date?

The WoH card is less than a year old, so anyone who spends $15,000 in one month should trigger the award night.

2 scenarios I could think of:
1) Conversion from old Hyatt Visa which doesn't reset anniversary date. If the anniversary date falls in the middle of the 15K spending, the spending for either year might not meet 15K on that statement.
2) Cardholder might have gotten the 15K night in 2018 and is thinking this is a calendar year benefit. Since it's a cardmember year benefit, it doesn't actually reset until anniversary date.

Indeed, this is my mistake in thinking it was a calendar year benefit. Funnily enough, when i tweeted Hyatt they didn't (can't?) look into my account and just told me the generic 6-8 week delay.

You need to talk to Chase, not Hyatt.

True. I was demoralized last year when Chase continuously referred questions about the $5000 qualifying night increments -- specifically, my progress towards it -- to Hyatt, which was just inexplicable.

That is strange. I've never had a problem with Chase looking up how much more spend I needed to meet some promo or sign up bonus. Apparently they have some internal tool that makes it easy.

That was for other CCs but it should be the same.

I’m pissed! I spent over $10,000 around the holidays thinking 4 EQN will apply for 2019 since my statement closed in January. Chase freaking back dated everything to 2018. Ugh

Welp now we have an answer its base on spending date not statement date

Seeking advice about how to get the correct (50,000) welcome bonus on my new Hyatt card...

I applied for this card at chase.com on January 16 and was instantly approved. The welcome offer was (and still is) 50,000 bonus points, including 25,000 after spending $3k in the first 3 months and an additional 25,000 after spending $6k in the first 6 months.

The problem is that a Chase supervisor just told me that my account is only eligible for the first 25,000 points (for $3k of spend), and that there is no additional 25,000 points for $6k of spend. She said this is the offer that was attached to my application, and it cannot be changed. I don't understand how this could be possible because the bonus offer for this card has never been 25,000 points - it has always been either 60,000 or 50,000.

I didn't take any screenshots of my application because the Chase application form does not display the bonus offer anyway. What can I do to get this issue corrected? The Chase supervisor said that nothing can be done, but I simply don't believe that...

The same thing happened to me, quite annoying but at least now we know for next year!

Why were you talking to a Chase supervisor? Have you spent the first $3,000? The second $3,000?
