World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Have you had the previous card for more than 24 months? If so, you can cancel your current card, wait a few days, and then apply for the new card. This will give you the full current offer which is 50,000 bonus points.
I did this - closed the card, paid off the balance, and then waited a few days to reapply. I got the new card with the full offer.

Is it even possible to get a room for $500/night? All in, it's probably much higher.

chase has a hard 5/24 rule, and I’m at 14/24. So I can’t open any cards under chase

it’s much higher and perhaps that’s the reason why they need to keep running promos to drive traffic to the miraval brand. I personally think it’s overrated

I was curious so I did a quick search.

For Arizona, it just shows no availability regardless of the dates I put in.

For Austin it's available for the low low price of $9,999 per night. Wide open availability.

I assume that something is wrong with the app?

Pokimg around a bit, I found rates of $539 for a 1 night stay. I'm not sure if there's anything better. Still a little pricy with a $250 credit but arguably worth it, at least to give it a try.

I'm not sure what globalist benefits you get. Waived resort fee? Resort fee is $124 so this is significant.

Edit: from the T&C, there is no exclusion of the waived resort fee or free upgrade benefit at Miraval (like there is at M-life and Hyatt Residence). It might be worth a one night stay if you can book a double room for $539, get upgraded for free, not pay the resort fee, and get a $250 statement credit. You will earn base, bonus, and credit card points on the whole amount too. (about 5600 pts as globalist with CC)

Anniversary Free Night after first annual fee?

I was charged an annual fee on December 1, 2018 -- kind of surprising, since my annual fee on the old card was always on February 1 and I switched to the new card in July, so I was expecting that the annual fee would be charged on one of those dates. So far the anniversary free night hasn't shown up on my account. Do I not get an "anniversary" night this year because I got a free night in July when I switched to the new card? Or is this just taking a couple of months to happen? Has anyone gotten an anniversary free night under these circumstances? Or does anyone know for sure that no such night will be awarded? Thanks so much.

I believe when you product change your anniversary does not change. So you should get your free night in Feb.

When you product change to a card with a different AF, they prorate the fee based on when you paid it, and give you credit towards the right amount of time with the new card.

Example: Say you have a $50 AF card. After 6 months you product change to a $100 AF card. You have only used half of the $50 AF you paid, so you have $25 in "annual fee credit". $25 is 1/4 of the annual fee for your new card, so that buys you 3 month. So, 3 months after your product change, you will have to pay a $100 AF for the new card.

None of this is at all transparent but that does seem to be how it works. Unfortunately it leaves your annual fee out of sync with your anniversary.

I found the acquisition of Miraval very humorous. Hyatt management had themselves mixed up with the Four Seasons/Peninsula brands while opening/managing a ton of HHs/HPs.
I see it as another datapoint attesting to the low IQ of Hyatt management.

In your opinion, what hotel management has higher IQ? So we can all move to that brand....

Hotel chains that understand the customers that they cater to and stay in that lane.
Peninsula Hotels, Banyan Tree, Shangri-La, Four Seasons, to name a few on the high end.
Red Roof, Motel 6, Best Western, Wyndham to name a few on the budget end.

Hyatt decided to make their loyalty program more 'exclusive' and concurrently bought the Miraval and Exhale chains. At the same time, Hyatt is building a bunch of HHs/HPs.

And yes, I do think that Marriott management is doing a better job than Hyatt. There have been some problems with Starwood merger, but most corporate mergers don't go completely smooth. At least Marriott hasn't intentionally alienated any customers, unlike Hyatt.

Hyatt is pretty close to perfect in my book.
Typing this from my $1000/n Andaz Ocean Suite in Wailea for some measly base room points on a busy, winter holiday weekend.
Walked past the Waldorf Astoria Wailea with their wrist bands & towel checkout system and rolled my eyes about this being Hilton’s top brand.
For a couple hundred a night and plannng ahead, I spend almost all of my 50 Hyatt nights/yr in $500 to $1000/n suites.
