World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage
Other notes and tips
Chase spending tracker

- Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I just had my 55th night post from WOH CC spend. A day later, I was surprised to get an email saying I'd received my cat 1-7 bonus night. My understanding had been that that perk only posted upon hitting 60 nights. I wonder if that has changed?

If you were a Globalist last year after earning 60 nights, then you will receive the Cat 1-7 free night and suite night awards when hitting 55 nights. It's a great benefit. Source: myself back in july and many DPs on this thread and others

Given that, is there any benefit to pushing on to 60 nights in the case of a recurring globalist? I know 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 gets you 10K bonus / 4 suite upgrades...

Globalist went from being one of one of the hardest statuses to get at 60, to becoming much easier after year one, to becoming significantly easier to obtain because of the WOH card.

Thank you for confirming, I'm obliged! One final question, if I might. Have we established whether charges made in December that won't cycle until January will count for 2018 or 2019 night credit? (Or perhaps we need to gather December data points first to get a convincing answer...?)

We're in the same boat. At 53 now and waiting for my statement to close today or tomorrow. Should land me even at 55 this year. The new card really paid off for me.

I have a United card but have never paid close enough attention to know how charges from Dec. closing date thru Dec. 31 are handled. The United PQD waiver is a lot more important/valuable than the two nights per $5,000 on the WoH card. Anyone know how Chase and United handle such spending?

No way to know for sure until after it will be too late — i.e., in January.

Hyatt often bumps people who come that close, but even if they don’t, I’d say United Gold or higher is still worth more than Hyatt Globalist.

It’s obviously subjective. Since I’m not based in a United hub, I’ve gotten an above-average amount of value out of United Gold, plus airline status is a lot harder to obtain than hotel status (even Hyatt, which is probably the toughest of the major U.S.-based chains).
I didn’t mean to derail the thread, so I’ll refrain from further debate on this topic.

$25 statement credit
I just got my $25 statement credit. The thing is, I have absolutely no idea what they counted to add up to $500 spend. I have $180 between phone and internet service charged in November. Maybe another $20 or so at airport newsstands (it would be a stretch to call that "grocery store", but who knows).
There is nothing else that is even remotely similar to any of the categories. Are they counting a meal ordered on postmates as shipping charges? That's another $25. I'm still $275 short.
The only thing I can see is, maybe they (somehow) counted my point.com purchase of hyatt points as "shipping charges"?
Oh well, no complaints here. Let's see what happens in December...
