World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage
Other notes and tips
Chase spending tracker
- The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
- Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
- Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
- Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
- Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Will I get approved?
8/2/18 CSR approved.
8/7/18 Chase Business Ink Preferred approved via branch banker, as I opened a new business account.
8/15/18 upgraded my SPG Preferred to Luxury.
FICO 790 to 825 range
I am not a churner, but I am getting the bug... I am planning to appy for both Chase Southwest cards in November to get the companion pass for next year.
Should I wait?
Thx!

I paid to zero balance on July 17 (immediately upon receipt of statement) then closed card. Yet my applications kept getting denied. I applied several times at various intervals from July 22 onward. Chase told me repeatedly that a statement cycle had to run before the closed account goes away. Statement date was originally the 16th. I asked them to change my statement date to the 1st. Statement with zero balance ran on August 1st. My application was accepted on August 6th.
If your experience was better than I'm very happy for you. However, in my experience, a zero-balance statement has to run before the cancelled card goes bye-bye.

if I agree with you, then we'd both be wrong. And nobody wants that to happen.

Pay old card to $0, close it a day or two later, apply for new WoH card a few days after that. Simple as that.

I had a quite similar experience: paid old card on 4 Sept, closed account on 5 Sept via phone call, applied for new WOH card today, 10 Sept, (via incognito browser window) and was insta-approved with a limit that is $5k higher than the one for old card. So, now I await the card's arrival, to start putting some spend on it.

You're welcome and congrats. For others reading and getting good info. from this thread, remember that some of us have referral links for the new WoH card (and others). The referral-link WoH bonus offer is the same as the public offer, so might as well throw some referral points to a fellow FlyerTalker.

The referral links don't always show up in a new account immediately. In any event, the point was simply to remind people here to use a referral link when applying. I'm sure most people applying don't have someone else in their household who already has the new WoH card.

I'm sure that's true in general, but not necessarily for FTer's. I can't count the number of posts I've read over the years where household members were combining their credit card free nights (when they were offered) for stays at aspirational properties.

For my Hilton Aspire (Amex, not Chase) I got my bonus when I crossed the spend threshold, prior to statement closing.

Do we know for sure it is triggered by statement close date and not when the $5k was spent? I don't need the nights this year, so I'm hoping my December travel costs can be timed so I get the credit in January (I just changed my closing day of the month to the 5th).

Same for me. My charges hit the books in mid-August but I didn’t see the points and nights until the statement closed.
