World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I'm not sure if I will be able to take advantage the 5 night credit to get back to Explorist this year
I had the AF post in ~April (for the old Hyatt card)
I upgraded the card in July (the day it was announced) and had a prorated AF returned. (I got a statement credit for "ANNUAL FEE REFUND" of about ~$60).
To date, I still haven't had an annual fee on the new card post.

I concur, I don't think anyone knows. But given that the 2 nights are a credit card benefit (and ONLY after the statement posts), my hunch is that it doesn't restart.

For example, say you spend $5K in December, statement posts January 5th, you get the night credit a few days after that. There's no way that they're going to back-post your night credits to December.

My hunch is that they never "reset" the $5K -> 2 night credits. If you've spent $4,999 at the end of 12 months, then a $5,001 would bring you up to a total/cumulative $10K spend, so they give you 4 night credits.
Also, too many things are up in the air - what happens if your statement date moves forwards or backwards a couple weeks? How would they ever fairly be able to pick a "good" reset date? That's why my hunch is that it's a completely rolling $5K - as soon as you go over that threshold, they give you night credits for the membership year you're in at the time.

I'm pretty sure this is what happens with the older Marriott card that gives an elite night credit for $3k in spend. It just keeps rolling over every $3k; it didn't appear to reset on the first of the year, for a billing cycle, or on an anniversary date.

I suppose my question back several days ago was in the middle of a good discussion on another topic and therefore didn't jump out to anyone prompting them to answer (or maybe I should post in another thread) but I was wondering if anyone had knowledge on this question:

Ok, so we get 10% of our points back if we have a Hyatt cc for award stays through end of Sept. I'm trying to decide if I should make a few cheap mattress runs now or wait until I know for sure I need them in December.

Does anyone remember what Hyatt promotions have run in the last 2-3 years in the last calendar quarter that might help me determine whether I should do those runs now or wait?

You'll probably have better luck in this thread:

I just got a notification that my card is coming tomorrow via next day air and just got the 5 night credits also.
I just called as well and was told that the card cannot be expedited and that it takes 10 business days. Rep said "it was ordered" on Monday 8/13 (it was approved last Thursday or Friday) and would be 8/27 at the earliest. 5 nights posted yesterday (8/14). Should I expect I might actually get next day air as well? Any other experiences with shipping? I sent a secure message via chase.com just now asking for expedited shipping -- would love to use this for a big upcoming Hyatt spend.

I haven't seen a single report of next-day shipping of the Hyatt card. Have you gotten a "your card has been mailed" email from Chase?

Should I be concerned? Here's my timeline:

Last new account bonus received on old Hyatt Visa: 7/11/2016
Old Hyatt Visa canceled: 6/29/2018
New WOH Visa approved: 8/2/2018
5 qualifying nights added: 8/8/2018
6K spend complete: 8/12/2018
First statement date: 8/14/2018

So after the first statement, I received the 6000 spend points. However, I did not receive the 60K sign-up bonus. Should I be concerned due to the closeness of the 24 months rule? Or does it usually take more than one statement to receive the sign-up bonus. The 6k spend did cut VERY close to the statement date. Thanks.

I received the new WOH Visa in mid-July and did 6K spend by first statement which I recently received. Bonus points from spend as well as the 60K enrollment bonus appeared in my Hyatt account 2 or 3 days after statement closing date. I called customer service at Chase and they confirmed that all points should post on WOH account a few days after monthly statement closing date.

On paper statement, all bonus points earned including enrollment bonus are summarized and totaled on the first page of statement.

Annual membership fee of $95 appeared on this first statement as well.

This is my first time using points and cards and its fun. Thanks to everyone on this forum. I took a quick trip to the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells and got lots of points there. Lowly Discoverist that I am got upgraded to a suite. Resort was low occupancy and it was like 116 outside. I guess upgrades are more available in places where no sane person wants to go.

Already planning my trip to the Andaz Papagayo.

? (I quoted the reported next-day shipment of the card in my post, #396 , above)

Edited: no such email received yet, but I did just get a Chase secure message in response to my inquiry, telling me that the card was shipped on 8/15. So I'm hopeful that it'll come in the next day or so.

Per your comment in #396 , your card was approved on August 9 or 10 and was "ordered on 8/13," but you apparently still don't have it, despite supposedly receiving a notification that next-day delivery was scheduled for 8/16. That doesn't sound like expedited delivery to me.
