World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage
Other notes and tips
Chase spending tracker
- The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
- Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
- Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
- Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
- Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Eight weeks? That's a little crazy. One of the reasons I am putting spend on the card is to get some nights so I can get some suite upgrades sooner. I guess this should be a one-time problem since next year, suite upgrades all expire at the end of the membership year. But for now, mine expire earlier this year than some of my planned stays.

Just called to see if they can expedite the card to me and they said that the hold up is coming from hyatt. They take a while to match accounts with chase and verify ID. Usually 10 days for that and then they send express.

They said the same to me, noted in the account to send by UPS once approved by Hyatt, and then they sent it by regular mail. For what I read on this thread, any attempt to expedite did not work, however good luck!

11 July: Applied and approved for WoH card, contacted them via SM about sending card overseas, and was told to wait for verification.
15 July: 5 elite nights posted to WoH account
18 July: Asked once again for card to be sent overseas.
21 July: New card arrived in Singapore via UPS (Yippee!)

just curious, did you let a statement cycle close (even w/ just five days) before re-applying or was it within same cycle/statement of the old card? i only ask b/c some reported having to wait until until statement rolled/ closed before getting approved for new card?

No, same cycle. The key is having a $0 balance on the old card for at least a few days. In most if not all cases I can recall here, the people who were denied were people who applied while their old card had a balance.

Applying is arduous and frustrating
I appreciate all the posts about how easy it is to cancel your existing (HGP) card and apply for the new (WoH) card. I find the process to be difficult and frustrating.
1. Cancelled my card on July 20. It had a balance, however the payment has been on autopay for many years.
2. Applied on July 27. Declined. They sent a snail mail letter which instructed me to call a number.
3. Called the number. They declined it because I already have a Hyatt card. They said if I pay off the card immediately, it will go away and I can apply again.
4. I paid off the card immediately. It shows zero balance. Applied again. Declined.
5. Phoned the number again. It still shows I have a Hyatt card. Wait 5 days then apply again and it will go through.
6. I waited 5 days and applied again. Declined. Called the number. It shows I'm declined because I already have a Hyatt card. They say to wait until the next statement, showing a zero balance. And then apply.
7. I asked them to change my statement date to August 1 (instead of August 16). Regular agent couldn't do it, but I supervisor could. Statement on August 1 was generated showing zero balance. I applied again. Declined.
8. Phoned the number again. I asked if all these declines were hurting my credit rating. They said that it declines at the first step (i.e. because I already have a Hyatt card). They never get to the step where it checks my credit, etc. I look on my credit report and they are right: there are NO inquiries to my credit report.
9. Current status: it's August 5. Statement closed August 1 and shows zero balance. Card was cancelled on July 20, paid in full a few days later. Online account shows the same as it has showed since 10 days ago: account is closed, zero balance owed. Yet their system still says that I have an account.
By now, it should be clear to chase that I absolutely WILL get that frigging card. I've applied at least 10 times, only to be rejected because "I already have a Hyatt card". Why oh why do they make the process so incredibly cumbersome?

They didn't. Your first application was when you still had a Hyatt account active in their systems, and all of the subsequent applications and/or the closing-date change are liable to be re-setting some sort of flag in their system. Why not wait a week and then see what happens?
