World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Just another DP for those considering closing old Hyatt card, and applying for the new WOH card:

05 July: SM-ed Chase to close Hyatt card
11 July: (so, about 3-4 working days) Applied for new WOH card. Auto-approved.

The statement for my old Hyatt card doesn't close until mid-month, so I wouldn't be too afraid to push the new application if you are in a hurry (as I am) to knock out the minimum spend.

I also used my old Hyatt referral link to self-refer for the new WOH card. I will report if I get a self-referral bonus.

You mean you generated a new WoH referral link using the last four digits of your old Hyatt card? The old Hyatt card referral links had all died as of a few weeks ago.

Nope, I used the old dead link, which I saved somewhere. I read a DP elsewhere of someone using a dead referral link on another Chase card, and getting a bonus on it despite expiration of referral link.

That's odd. The last time I tried my old Hyatt referral link, it returned an "offer expired" error.

So it seems like the consensus is that if you've had the old card >2 yrs you can just cancel and apply for the new card a few days later??? And can folks confirm that for those that have done this they are indeed eligible for the 60K sign up promo???

It has to be more than two years since the bonus was awarded, not two years since the old Hyatt card was opened.

Another update on length of time to receive a new card. 10 days came and went earlier this week, but I called and was assured that as soon as the plastic was produced, a tracking number would generate for UPS. This morning I received an email saying the card was mailed (14 days). I called Chase... the order to expedite is still in the system, but was never executed. The card should arrive in 5 more business days (approx 24 days after approval). Just FYI.

Any reasonable chance Chase might withdraw this offer by 9/30?

I canceled my old card, which I had for well over two years, with the intention to apply for the new card. Should I wait until 30 days has passed from my cancellation to ensure approval (of course assuming I am approvable), or should I be ok if I apply the day after my billing cycle date, which is about ten days prior to the 30-day mark. Thanks.

My data point: applied July 4, elite nights posted July 7, card arrived July 14.

Welcome to Flyertalk!

Well, here's someone's experience that suggests it is inessential to wait until a billing cycle closes, much less 30 days:

Of course, if you look further upstream, you'll see some folks who did not get auto-approved. Now does that mean that they would have been approved had they waited longer? Or that they weren't "approvable"? Hard to know without a lot more data...

So, if and when you do apply, let us know how it worked out.

[The practical advice in your case is to do a risk/reward calculation. Do you have some big Hyatt spend coming up fast? Will you qualify as Globalist with the five nights just before a PH stay? If so, go for it sooner rather than later. If not, then just wait it out. Might not matter, but in case it does ....]

Thanks Biggie, helpful. I am in no rush, other than being generally impatient, so I will wait until at least after my billing cycle I think.

I tweeted my old referral link, and was able to retrieve it this way. I don't believe you can generate old link. However, if you still hold the old Hyatt card, you can generate new referral links for it - that will lead you to the new WoH card.

Currently can't make new links unfortunately. "Offer currently unavailable"
Maybe that will change though. Just would like to grab this new card before it goes 5/24.

Thanks
