World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage
Other notes and tips
Chase spending tracker

- Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"

- Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I have had the old Hyatt card and would like to upgrade to the WOH card, as I just hit the 50k spend for the year. I was told by Chase there is no bonus for upgrading now. I was wondering if any had some magic words I can say to get a bonus or if I should just upgrade without the bonus
If you apply for a new one, pay the card to $0, close it, wait three to five days, and then apply for the new one. Remember to use a referral link when applying, as it's a free 5,000 points for someone and gets you the same 60,000-point bonus.

How did you end up with two hard pulls if Chase said they couldn't pull the report?
Anyway, for 50,000 Hyatt points instead of 2,000, I'd unfreeze my credit reports for a week and then apply.
EDIT: Corrected 60,000 to 50,000.

Is there an actual 60K points sign up offer or is everyone talking about the 2-certificate offer that could be worth 60K points if redeemed for Cat-7 hotels. I would prefer an offer for points rather than certificates as those can expire and you only realize their full value if you have a Cat-7 redemption in mind within a year of the certs being issued. Thanks.

Suppose my billing cycle closes the 15th. Will spend I make on Dec 20th, that will post on my January 15, 2020 statement, count towards night credit for 2019, or 2020? TIA.

If it works the same as last year, any $5,000 increments achieved in 2019 will count for 2019, regardless of statement date. Some Chase CSRs recently claimed it will work differently this year (see various comments from the past month or so), but I wouldn't bet on it.

Thank you Joe, I'm inclined to agree with your assessment. Will be interesting to see data points this year.

Thanks. I'm hoping the 60K points offer comes back. The offer for the 2 certs + $50 credit still comes up if you are making a booking. I'd rather have the flexibility of the points though.

Has anyone here “Spent their way to Globalist”?
If so, was it worth it?
By that I mean spending roughly 100k within a calendar year on non-Hyatt purchases with the WOH card and staying a few nights to make Globalist Status.
A friend of mine has had the card and so far has only stayed 3 nights. They’re working on spending to meet the rest. As last month they were at 42 Elite Nights and have spent about 20k since meaning they’re at 50 and only need 10 more which is 25k in spend.
After meeting it they have a couple stays planned. But just wanted to hear from people who’ve done it.
I’ve also heard they don’t let Globalists re-qualify with 55 nights as they have been, but they do give you until February to re-qualify. Is this true?

To respond to your question about spending to get Glob, I would ask if you're only staying 3 nights a year or have just a couple of stays planned, what's the point of seeking Glob ?

I believe you misread what I wrote. My friend has only stayed 3 nights so far this year (using her WOH account). She has another 6 night planned stay (at a location that does charge parking to your room) so far this year (after qualifying for Glob) and possibly one more stay as well. That’s just this year. Next year she will be doing stays in Chicago, NYC, and possibly San Francisco too all of which charge hefty amounts for parking.
Between earning Globalist and the end of 2020 I believe they will be staying roughly 15-20 nights at least at Hyatt (and Hyatt owned properties like Thompson, Ventana, etc.). Four of those nights would be with free night Certificates though.
Heres how how I see it:
Parking for Dallas Stay: $60 Value
Parking for Chicago stay: 3 Nights $210 value
Parking for NYC Stay: $150 Value
Parking for San Francisco stay: $150 Value (2 Nights Valet @ Grand Hyatt $75/Night).
Just Parking alone is $570 saved.
The Suite Upgrades aren’t too big of a deal I’d peg them at $30 a night since my friend isn’t too big on them.
So conservatively that’s another $600
Club Access/Free Breakfast for 3 people (2 adults and a child)
About $450 Conservatively
Just that we’re up to $1,500+ in Value.
Include the (2) Cat 1-4 Certs that come on the way to Spending to Globalist.
Value to my friend would be - $300 (1 cent per point minimum value)
$100 Hyatt Gift Card at 40 Nights
(1) Cat 1-7 Certificate ($450 Conservative Value)
Minimum of 100k Hyatt Points earned on the way too. ($1,000 minimum Value 1 cent per point).
Final Value In Spending to Globalist is about $3,300 for my friend in a conservative valuation. If she ends up staying more it’s worth more. I’m not even including the 30% Boost on and Hyatt purchases over the year or the extra value in a 4pm checkout as opposed to 2pm which there is some value there.
Thats how my friend explained it to me. Is there something I’m missing?

It may still be worth it to spend your way to Glob since you're clarified the upcoming stay patterns, but your analysis greatly overstates the value.
