World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Chase closed my cycle a day early

I had a strange issue with my WOH today. Every month, it's closed on the 23d, like clockwork, weekdays or weekends. Sure enough the online profile said this statement would close on May 23, today.

But it actually closed yesterday, the 22d. This would be fine, except that I was paying off the $24K balance today, so that the statement would cycle at 0. Now I'm holding my breath that the large reported balance doesn't mess up my credit profile severely enough for other creditors to take notice.

TLDR: Don't assume Chase will keep the same cycle date they've assigned you in the past!

Based on data points from earlier in this thread (including some quoted below), the $5k counter never resets. The counter tracks total cumulative spend since account opening and issues 2 night credits every time the counter crosses a multiple of $5k. The night credits appear 1-2 days after statement date of the triggering transaction, but for Hyatt status qualification purposes they are associated with the posting date of the triggering transaction (distinction relevant for billing cycles ending in January).

Note that this is different from the $15k counter, which resets every cardmember anniversary date.

I think these counters deserve an explanation in the wiki... I'll edit to add.

Thus, no spend was "stranded" in 2018. This is pretty much as everyone expected. You mentioned purchases in Dec 2018 after your Dec statement cut, and they will certainly count - if you crossed a $5K threshold in that end of Dec time period, I believe other DP's have stated those 2 nights were credited toward 2018. If you didn't cross a threshold, your spending carried forward to 2019.

I had no idea the 15k free night was for card member anniversary year and not calendar year. I received a nice surprise when I got the email today alerting me to a free night (which was already applied to an existing Cat 4 points reservation I had previously)... I thought I gamed the system when I only hit 12k YTD spend on the card

Looking at planning a wedding at a Hyatt hotel and considering getting the WoH card. Would the 4x spend apply to event spend at a Hyatt property or is there some fine print that Im missing?

No, the 4x doesn't apply to events.

Believe just 1x, although you might be able to negotiate a higher amount with the individual property.

expedited delivery success

Seems like people were having trouble getting a quicker delivery of their new card. Just reporting that I got a rep to promise 1-2day delivery:

5/21: Applied for card, application pending
5/21: Calling automated status line, told decision in 7-10 biz days
5/23: called again, approved
5/24: called, spoke to rep, told card was still in Partner Verification & should call back in few days
5/27: called, asked to expedite delivery, told my card will arrive in 1-2 biz days

Getting a card six or seven days after approval isn't really expedited delivery, at least as that phrase is understood around here.

Verify this with the particular hotel. My read on the credit card terms and conditions is that it should count as 4 bonus points, as you'll be paying the hotel. Note that spa charges do count for 4x; I don't see why a wedding catered by the hotel wouldn't count.

From the Credit Card T&C: 4 Bonus Points: You'll earn 4 World of Hyatt Bonus Points for each $1 USD spent on purchases made at Hyatt hotels and resorts (including at participating restaurants and participating locations that are owned, managed, franchised or licensed by Hyatt Corporation or its subsidiaries or affiliates) and at participating SLH properties. "Small Luxury Hotels" or "SLH" means properties affiliated with Small Luxury Hotels of the World Limited that participate in the World of Hyatt Program.

Im fairly sure this was discussed previously in the thread, with the consensus being that wedding and event spend only generates 1x points on the WoH credit card, which is the same 1x points that even Globalists receive for such spend as per WoH terms. That said, Hyatt has a promo going right now that yields 60,000 to 150,000 bonus points for spending $10,000 to $40,000+ on a wedding at a participating Hyatt (promo code = HMOON), so the WoH CC sign-up bonus plus the promo points would result in a huge score.

Does anybody know how spending at a SLH is treated using the WoH card? Bonus points like a Hyatt?

Just for yucks, I called the Huntington Beach CA HR Event Planning. They weren't sure and sent me to the World of Hyatt credit card dept @800-544-9288. The woman at World of Hyatt confirmed that you get 4 bonuse pts/$ charged.

Where the confusion on this may lie is that many Hyatts do not give 5 base pts/$ for Events. I know that when I was looking at a Hyatt for my daughter's wedding, they would only give 3 base points/$ spent rather than 5.

Depends. It has to be a participating property.
From the credit card T&C:
How you can earn Bonus Points: You'll earn World of Hyatt Bonus Points when you, or an authorized user, use a World of Hyatt Credit Card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won't count as a purchase and won't earn World of Hyatt Bonus Points: balance transfers, cash advances and other cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. 4 Bonus Points: You'll earn 4 World of Hyatt Bonus Points for each $1 USD spent on purchases made at Hyatt hotels and resorts (including at participating restaurants and participating locations that are owned, managed, franchised or licensed by Hyatt Corporation or its subsidiaries or affiliates) and at participating SLH properties. "Small Luxury Hotels" or "SLH" means properties affiliated with Small Luxury Hotels of the World Limited that participate in the World of Hyatt Program. "Participating SLH properties" means any hotel or resort that is affiliated with SLH and participates in the World of Hyatt Program.
