World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I was calling to check that my account had the bonus offer because it wasn't shown in any of the documents that arrived with my card in the mail. The first person I spoke to said the offer was only 25,000 points, and then I spoke to a supervisor to confirm.

I have not spent the first $3k yet.

Just spend the $6,000 and you should be fine.

That's my guess too.

The thing is... Chase is usually pretty good about this sort of thing. I find their phone reps to be the best out of the major lenders.

yeah, so im good there.
How long did it take for your free night due to 15K spend to post? I think I just hit that threshold but am hoping to use it for a March stay, just wondering how likely it will be I will get it in time.

You mentioned purchases in Dec 2018 after your Dec statement cut, and they will certainly count - if you crossed a $5K threshold in that end of Dec time period, I believe other DP's have stated those 2 nights were credited toward 2018. If you didn't cross a threshold, your spending carried forward to 2019.
This is what I thought. Because if you don't get enough to have the 5K/2 elite nights count when you need it by the end of the year, then you just don't get it. But you shouldn't be penalized for not spending exactly a factor of 5K at the end of the year.

Within the CC statement or Hyatt? If the Hyatt statement, in theory when the Hyatt activity shows "bonus points earned" and the total of those since the opening date of the WOH card totals 15K, then the reward should show up in my account? Thanks in advance.

you are overthinking.
spend $15K on your Chase card in a cardmember year.
wait until your Chase statement closes.
wait another day.
see the Cat4 cert in your WOH account.

Ok if we are going to go to that level. The closing statement in December, and actually the entirety of spend since card opening was $1,240. The next statement in January was $8,830 thanks in large part to CX!

So the total is 10070. There is no way that 2 nights should have credited to 2018.

That said, this includes the payment of the annual fee, so perhaps that doesn't count and I ended up at $9,975, just shy of 10K?
As people said upthread, your AF should not count, so please let us know what posts when you get your February statement. If you spend 5,025+ you hopefully should start off with 4 elite nights to start the year!

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking you were saying that my Chase statement would somehow show the posting, which was why I asked my other follow-up. Hopefully I will have enough spend to meet the mark by the February close and I will see the reward soon.

Just as a DP, when I upgraded my card, I specifically inquired as to when my anniversary free night would be available, and the CSR told me that the anniversary date on my card would change, so the anniversary free night would be pushed back. I decided to upgrade since I only had the card a few months, and had some big expenses, so the ability to get the 15K free night immediately rather than waiting until my anniversary date.

There were a few random fee transactions and credits that occurred, but it actually seemed to benefit me, but now some people are saying they got double-billed AFs so I may have to take a closer look.

This is correct, 15K for FN is supposed to be anniversary or cardmember year.

Well, just FYI as a DP, I think my 15K in spend/points posted in my Hyatt account since I upgraded to WOH, along with hitting another 5K threshold for elite night credits. Hoping that tomorrow will give me two pleasant surprises in my Hyatt account. Once I get those I can start making finalizing my plans to book my Seattle stay!

I'm not a hacker but it was likely due to weak security. If I were a hacker, I'd go for the easiest websites to hack rather than going after ones with robust security. Low hanging fruit.
