World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

For those who were rejected due to 5/24, how soon were you told after applying? Do you still get the card but no bonus (is there a choice given)? Or is it no all the way?

$250 back after spending $500 at Miraval

Offer in my email today:

Discover a rewarding, one-of-a-kind wellbeing experience, designed around your intentions, at Miraval Resorts. As a World of Hyatt or Hyatt Credit Cardmember, your next retreat can be even more rewarding with an exclusive cardmember offer. You can receive a $250 statement credit if you spend $500 or more directly with Miraval Resorts by December 31, 2019.

1. Spend $500 or more directly with Miraval Resorts between January 15, 2019 and December 31, 2019. No registration required.
2. Get a $250 statement credit on your World of Hyatt or Hyatt Credit Card.
Unsure if this is targeted. The T&C say:
This offer is only valid for Hyatt Credit Cardmembers and World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers who receive this offer.
but I suspect that that's just boilerplate.

If 5/24 is the problem Chase won't open the account at all.

I also received this email offer. It certainly sounds good, but I'm not going anywhere there's a Miraval in 2019.

Same offer here.

If you could figure out a tax-deductible business rationale to stay in a Miraval, that’s a very cheap/free stay. 50% back, plus whatever your combined federal/state marginal rate is, presumably 5x base points for the stay, and 4x with the credit card.

I have the old hyatt Chase card, have had it for ages, is there a benefit to me to either get rid of it or convert it to the new WoH card? Sorry if this is a dumb question, havent been paying attention to Hyatt lately but I do a couple trips a year to Hyatts where I do 2 rooms and fairly decent cash spend and so having the branded card to bank that makes sense.

I just cancelled my card earlier this month and applied for the new one with 60K bonus

Two quick questions:

First, assuming it is posting as a calendar year and not cardmember year benefit, can anyone confirm how long after spending $15K in 2019 the cat 1-4 night posts? I'm trying to see if spending now would get me the night by early February, when I'd have a good use for it.

Second, is anyone else still waiting on their 5% cash back credit from the November grocery, etc. spend bonus to post? A bit surprised it is taking this long.

Thanks, Dave

The new WoH Visa is much better than the old Hyatt Visa. Converting old to new is not good with only 2000 point bonus. You should pay off balance and then cancel old cc, wait a few days then apply for new WoH cc, Sign up bonu is now 50,000 points, it was 60,000 points.

Check out the benefits and decide for yourself. A lot of us canceled the old and applied for the new for the sign up bonus.

1. It's cardmember year.
2. Mine posted within a few days of making the purchases for both months. It's a $25 credit each month. I met my Dec spend by pre paying my phone bill on Dec 31. The credit came through on Jan 2. If you haven't gotten it yet it's probably not coming. You may want to call to ask if you are sure you had the $500 spend. It's really not clear what they count (I got my November credit even though I have no idea what purchases could have possibly counted)

Edit: Re: Cardmember vs calendar year: Straight from the website:
1 additional free night

Earn an extra free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort if you spend $15,000 during your cardmember anniversary year.
There's really no wiggle room here... it's pretty clear

This is only available if you have had the old Hyatt card for some time. Also, the new card is subject to 5/24 rule. So a lot people won't qualify for the welcome bonus.

If you like the new benefits, it is certainly good to convert it.

Thanks VG. I opened a case for my lack of $25 credit, and the same rep confirmed my cardmember year and confirmed that they are posting the new night according to that time frame (i.e. the website excerpt you quoted is correct).

theyre currently offering 2500 points to upgrade to the new card. I read that if u upgrade, it resets your anniversary date. My anniversary date is currently August, so I’m holding off on the upgrade as I do not want to delay my free anniversary night

Nice try, but the cash-equivalent rebate is taxable.

I doubt chase/Hyatt will report the rebates to the IRS
