World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I believe promo sent via email:

This holiday season, feel more rewarded than ever for making purchases that help you stay connected to those you love. Register your Hyatt Credit Card or your World of Hyatt Credit Card and you can receive a $25 statement credit in November and December if you spend $500 on internet, cable and phone services, shipping and at grocery stores and movie theaters in each month.*

Here's how it works:
1 Register your Hyatt Credit Card or your World of Hyatt Credit Card by November 30, 2018.
2 Spend $500 or more in combined purchases in the following categories in November or December: internet, cable and phone services; shipping; grocery stores; movie theaters.
3 Get a $25 credit on your Hyatt Credit Card or your World of Hyatt Credit Card statement for each month of qualified spend. That’s up to $50 in total if you qualify in November and December.

2 qualifying night credit for $5,000

Regarding 2 tier qualifying night credit 5,000 USD spend, from the discussion above, I understand there are several possible unclear options:

[Post Timing] --- T&C mentions " Night credits are valid from the date of issuance through December 31st of the same calendar year"
A) Credits are issued immediately after reaching 5,000 USD
If you reach 5,000 on 12/30, that is for 2018 (regardless of statement cycle)
B) Credits are issued at the timing of statement closing.
If you reach 5,000 on 12/30 and the closing date is 12/10, that is counted for 2019

[Count Reset vs Continue beyond year-end] --- Some says "All Calendar Base" but really?
1) The counter towards 5,000 USD is reset at the end of 12/31
If you reach 4,900 USD by 12/31, it is reset and start from 0 USD from January ----
2) The counter continues beyond year-end
If you reach 4,900 USD by 12/31 and spend 100 USD in January (considering statement cycle), you could get 2 nights for 2019

Many of the poster here are trying to obtain for 2018. But for a person who has already achieved the target tier or no hope to achieve like me would like to have credit in 2019 rather than 2018.

I bet the option B) and 2) but I am afraid to reach 5,000 within December if I use the card in normal pace. So I'll stop charging the card once I reach 4,900 or so (after getting Dec 25USD bonus things) and would wait for January. I believe this is no-risk strategy but is there any disadvantage to do so?

Let us see what would happen in January.

I'm already qualified as Globalist for 2019 and don't think I'll end up at a point (like 78 nights) where two more nights would have any material value, and I just got the new WoH card a couple of weeks ago, and I have been reading the T&C and stewing over the same issues.

All of which is to say that I appreciate your having taken the time and thought to have parsed this as you have. I think you have it laid out right, and I suspect I shall follow your lead (or spend less).

Actually at 78 nights, 2 more would have value 10k pts is not insignificant! That's like getting 2 bonus pts per dollar for that last $5000.

In previous months, the date of issue on the nights has been 1-2 days after the statement closes. You can see this in the account activity on the app or web page.

It's possible that they will do something different for December but I would not hold my breath.

My plan is to complete all my spending I need for globalist by the time my statement closes in December, and then (just to be safe!) not cross another 5k threshold until the new year. That's not too hard... I've been using it as my primary card to push for globalist renewal; I'll just go back to using it for Hyatt only, and use my CSR as primary.

Having the card all year next year will make requalifying really easy (as a non business traveler, 60 or 55 nights is tough. With only $15k spend it's now doable at 44 nights, which is a LOT easier)

Same happened here just now. Statement closed, 2 additional nights hit and put me at 55.

Upgrades & Free Night already deposited. Done for 2018 (until DEC31).

Agree completely: If I do see that I am going to end up at 78 (I'm at 74 now, with two more planned) I would (will) indeed accelerate spending to hit $5,000 before statement closes in late December.

I'm expecting to be at 77. So I have to put $10K more on there to get my 10K extra points. Not a bad deal at all, but I have to figure out $10K here.

I too will stop spending post close in Dec and hold back til Jan 1. Keep in mind the 15K spend for a bonus night is based upon anniversary year though, not calendar.

Yeah, you can get into some crazy stuff here. I'm thinking that I might end up spending $4,000 (to pick a round number) on Plastiq, at a cost of $100, to harvest 4,000 UR points (which to me are 4,000 Hyatt points) plus the "bonus" 10,000 Hyatt points for getting to 80 night credits in 2018. 14,000 Hyatt points for $100 seems like good value for money, and there is no real opportunity cost, in the sense that I wouldn't be able to pay that part of the bill (tuition) with a credit card otherwise. A few timing/posting considerations to negotiate, however, plus convincing myself I won't end up getting the two nights by actually staying in a Hyatt between now and year's end....

Yeah - considering that I'll need three, it may make sense for me to get two via CC and then mattress run the last one. The opportunity cost on that last $5K is $100 compared to my Citi DoubleCash card, and for $100, I can probably snag a night locally if I watch carefully.

My Hyatt statement will close on December 4th and I will have met the minimum 3k spending. When should I expect the 40k Hyatt points to post to my account?

TIA
