World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Question regarding $5,000 Spend for 2 Elite Nights Credit:

Isn’t the Elite Nights Credit accumulating on a calendar year (start on 1/1 and end on 12/31), rather than on our individual an anniversary year? If so, for many of us trying to reach the next elite status, isn’t the spend from now to 12/31 wasted (or less effective), since the program started post-July 1 (i.e., half the year is gone) — in other words, it would be better to apply the spend for next year, when we have a full 12 months to accumulate the maximum amount of spend for Elite Night Credits? It seems to me that Hyatt should give credit to the spend on the old Hyatt Card after 1/1/18 so that the $5,000 x 2 Nights Credit makes sense. Otherwise, many of us are wasting Nights Credit we could earn by purchasing with the card this year (with respect to this feature). Frankly, the problem Hyatt has with this program is that it is mixing Anniversary Year and Calendar Year randomly, so benefits that should flow logically are inconsistent, depening on which 12-months apply. Am I misunderstanding this?

If I the upgrade the card after the annual night posts, am I going to get hit with two annual fees?!
No, you will just have to pay the $20 difference

I think you're misunderstanding something.

Per the best understanding we have now (and we should be able to verify in the next couple weeks) when you meet the $5K spend thresholds the bonus nights will be deposited. It doesn't really matter whether you're in cardmember or calendar year.

For example, if I am at 54 nights, then spend $15K right now, I'll get the 6 night credits (and globalist status) now (or more specifically within a couple weeks of statement closing)

Right - I think the missing info is that these elite night credits should hit Hyatt with each statement close - not on an annual basis.

I'm sure we'll have all of those end-of-year questions about December spend after the statement date applying to the current year or the next year, but for spend now, that's just not an issue.

I currently hold the Hyatt Rewards card and have had it for almost 3 years. I am thinking to close it and apply for the WOH card for the bonus. Do I have to wait 30 days after closing the HR card to be eligible for the new bonus? Or can I just wait 1 or 2 days after closing then apply?

It's only "wasted" spending for people who don't actually stay at Hyatt all that often and are trying to spend their way to Hyatt status as opposed to using the new CC to knock five or 10 nights off the 60-night top-tier requirement.

I was told by a chase rep I could reapply immediately after closing the card. I did and was rejected because Chase said I was a current card holder. Reapplied 30 days later and was instantly approved.

Guess I'll just play it safe and wait 30 days then.

Any word on when the 60K promo end?

Was the card still showing in your chase account? I haven't had a balance on mine in months and closed 3 weeks ago but card still showing up as closed. I only need to wait 1 more week for the 30 days so might just play it safe.

Has anyone had the 2+ night credit from spend show up on their account Hyatt?

My statement closed 7/23, and I got the bonus points from spend ($9K shows up as "Reward Bonus", + the 2,000 from upgrading), but don't have the two night credits.

Last I knew, the closed card will always show in your Chase account, unless you delete it.

Yes. I had it removed and put back on. I have a store credit that needs to be monitored.

Quick update:
Today (8/1) the two night credit posted, back-dated to 7/24. Why Hyatt thinks it's a good idea to back date things I'm really not sure - last night at 10PM the nights weren't there, they show up today but with a date of 7/24.

It posts as the utterly unhelpful:
Reward bonus Bonus Jul 24, 2018
Details
(Also note - The "details" looks blue like a hyperlink, but isn't actually clickable)

DP here:

I had the card for 3 years and close it on 7/24 calling and got AF refunded.

Applied 7/28 with card showing as closed with a negative balance of -$75 (due to annual fee refund)

Approved Automatically on 8/1
