World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Update/Datapoint:
1st statement just closed on the WoH CC.
- 2K point bonus posted (even though I never got the email). I was targeted on the website for the last week or so (after I already Product Changed from old to new).
- My bonus points for spend (9K) all posted.
Both of the above were separate line items in the account summary

- However, no additional night credits posted (should have been 2 since I went over $5K spend). At this point I'm just going to assume that Hyatt IT is playing catchup somewhere and they'll post in the next few days.

@joe_miami Close it and immediately pay it off in full. Then WAIT 24 hours after you see it post to your account and it will go thru. I made the mistake of not waiting and my original app was declined since their system didn't recognize that I had closed and paid it off. A day later I called back and CS/Lending gave me the standard "have to wait 30days to reapply" answer but this isn't true. Ask to be escalated to a Customer Resolution specialist and they'll confirm that you're account shows closed and paid. I then reapplied online and had an instant approval. Within minutes of approval, the account showed online (same login as my previous Hyatt card). If you get anything short of that -- call back to find out the reason.

Looks like you tagged the wrong person, but that info. seems to be the consensus here. The old card must be paid to $0 before applying for the new one.

A question for the experts: I cancelled my card on 7/22, $0 balance, last statement was issued on 4/20, no charges since then. The card shows as closed when I login, among all my other open Chase cards. Do I have to remove it before applying for the new card or is it safe to just apply as is? Thanks in advance for any insights.

You don't need to remove it.

Does upgrading my old Hyatt card to the new WOH card result in a hard credit inquiry? I am not interested in canceling my old card and applying for the new one, just using the online upgrade form and getting the 2,000 points for upgrading.

it does not. On a different note, does anyone know how long it takes for the elite nights to post? I have already closed one cycle and received my points but did not receive the elite nights. Thanks.

Are any of you worried about chase cracking down on "perk abuse"? Obviously its awesome to close the old card and get a nice 60k bonus on the new one. But I have 9 chase cards currently and don't want to jeopardize the relationship.

I've had the old card since soon after it launched, but I like to stay low risk, so I'm considering just applying to upgrade the card for the 2k points. My card year ends in early August, and I'm expecting the annual night to post around then, as well as the annual fee (in the past, the night posted a couple of weeks before the fee, I think, but that doesn't seem to be the case this year). If I the upgrade the card after the annual night posts, am I going to get hit with two annual fees?!
