World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

When was the last time they had something like that?

It was ridiculously generous. Probably the best promo in hotel history. You can look up the details.

Had we not been dealing with the final illness of my FIL during that time, my wife and I would have had 2 rooms, hopping every night.

Now I have a son of age, so it would be 3 rooms.

Not sure if this is the right thread, has anyone had any success recently in getting an extension on their CC free night cert? I am based in one of the hardest hit states of US and my cert is expiring in mid May. I doubt the situation will improve enough for me to be traveling even locally to use the cert by then. TIA.

PS: Please spare the comments about how the entire US is overreacting to the pandemic.

omg. what exact link did you send directly to chase? please dont tell me you sent the FT post by VegasGambler...

depending on your other chase activity, you could get unwanted eyes on your accounts which could lead to a shutdown. but i assume youre new to chase and new to the game. its a shame you closed the account. did you keep your original $200 bonus? if so, then youre also ineligible for future hyatt CC bonus for 24mo.

Anniversary Date question (which I think I asked ages ago, but can't remember, and now is about the time for me). Is it:
1) the actual date your card opened?
2) or, right after your Membership Fee is charged (typically at the end of that first month)?

Thanks.

World of Hyatt and chase question. How do I link my world of Hyatt account with my Hyatt credit card?

I applied the world of Hyatt card on Mar 22. When I apply, I did not enter my Hyatt member ID as I do not have one. I read the offer term and it said chase will send my info to Hyatt and Hyatt will create an account for me. Early April, I sent chase a secure message stating that I haven’t receive any info regarding my Hyatt account and they replied I need to contact Hyatt to create account. Called Hyatt and created account but they said I have to call chase to link the account. I feel like I keep going back and forth with chase and Hyatt. With COVID-19, it so hard to reach Chase. Anyone with experience linking their account? Thanks in advance

If you don’t input one when applying a new one will be created for you. It takes about 7-10 days then you’ll get a “Welcome to the World of Hyatt” email followed by a Congratulations you’re a Discoverist E-mail. It’s not something that happens within a day or even a week sometimes.

There’s no linking that takes place past the point of application. Since you created an account after your app was processed and time went by the best thing to do is to wait. Either Chase/Hyatt didn’t finish your account yet and when they send the card it will show the WOH number you went and made it it’ll show a new number. If it shows a new number I would stick with that as that is where the points will be sent to from Chase.

The WOH member number will be on the actual credit card as well.

As a note there are two good bonuses right now through 6/30 -

1) 10 Elite Qualifying Nights for signup instead of 5 which is a great boost.

2) For every $5,000 spent between now and 6/30 you earn 3 Elite Qualifying Nights instead of 2 which it is normally.

These are really good offers if you have any spend you need to do to boost your status to the higher tiers.

Enjoy!

These bonuses started on 15 April. As the previous poster applied almost a month earlier, on 22 March, it's questionable if the 10 night sign up bonus would apply.

Based on their post it seems they have not yet received their card.

Chase application process can take up to 30 days which from my end it sounds like it took close to that based on their post.

Considering that is why I posted the above info. But definitely feel free to send a SM to Chase or check your World of Hyatt account to see if you received the 5 nights or 10 nights.

On Chase credit application page, it is still showing 5 nights offered as elite qualifying...

I wonder whether those texts will ever be changed to reflect this promotion?

If you look at the link through Hyatt website, it shows 10 nights, however, it does not show 3 nights credit for 5k spend.

https://creditcards.chase.com/lp/wor...promo?CELL=PF4

Not sure if the offer is valid if only applied through this link.

So I applied last week and since I couldn't find any application page showing the 10 nights, I used a random link that only showed the 5 nights, thinking that all new cards will get the 10 nights but they won't bother updating the marketing materials. Yesterday I saw that 5 nights were added to my Hyatt account, then I saw the link above (that shows the 10 nights) so I freaked out and sent Chase a Secure Message.

First they asked me to send them a screenshot of the offer. I had already sent them the link but it sounded like their default reply when asking for an offer match, so whatever, easy enough.

Then they replied with this:

•All new World Of Hyatt credit customers, only during promotion period from April 15, 2020 till June 30, 2020.
•Get 10 qualifying night credits (instead of 5) towards tier status after account opening
•Qualified Night Credits Will fulfill separately
•Allow up to eight weeks for first five Qualified Night Credits to fulfill
•Allow additional two weeks for remaining five Qualified Night Credits to fulfill
•Five tier qualifying nights credits every year after
•This is in addition to your sign up bonus offer
I take that as meaning that everyone gets the 10 nights regardless of which link was used. And that the additional 5 nights will post separately, up to 10 weeks after account opening.

Additionally, contrary to what was alluded to above (and which quite frankly was my understanding as well), I'd like to point out that the offer for 3 elite nights (instead of 2 elite nights) per $5k spend is only for existing cardholders. Which explains why the application link above which mentions the 10 elite nights makes no mention of this.

EDIT: according to https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/15/cnn-u...fer/index.html "Additionally, all World of Hyatt card members — both existing and new card holders — will earn 3 nights toward status for every $5,000 spent on the card between now and June 30, 2020."

This is not my understanding, and sadly bloggers are the only source of information regarding this because there has been no mention of this promotion on either hyatt.com or chase.com. Which has made all of this both confusing and frustrating.

The Chase reps are notorious for bad information.

I'd actually be willing to trust a CNN article and certain trustworthy blogs sooner than a Chase secure message rep, unfortunately. CNN and some blogs deal with people higher up the Chase ladder.

For example, Chase reps have given contradictory answers on whether the $5K/2 Night counter resets at each calendar year or keeps rolling.
