World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

How long does it take for Chase to post my welcome bonus points? I finally crossed the $3000 mark last week and the charge already posted. I don't see the bonus miles in my Hyatt account. My statement closing date is on the 24th of every month.

They should show on your statement, and hit your account 1-2 days after that statement closes. So, I'd expect to see the points by the 2/26 or so

Really strange, maybe because I had a lot of spend? Usually they’ve posted in 1-2 days but nothing yet.

does the 3-month $3000 spend start on the day that I'm approved or the day that I actually receive the card in the mail?

I also need to look for other creative ways to make some extra spending... as I'm already doing another $5000 spend for another new credit card.

How good is Chase at seeing that my Staple's purchase of $200 Visa gift cards? That's what I'm doing for another credit card promo. (bought 20 $200 Visa gift cards during their $0 fee sale)

They have no way of knowing when you receive the card in the mail. It should be the date you are approved, but call and ask what your deadline is if it might be close. Get a specific date from them, not a time period.

I pay my rent with my WoH card (over $3500 for a 1br... yay San Francisco) so this is not something I have to worry about

landlords in SF accept credit cards? wow...
I'll go see if it's possible to pay for university apartment housing for a family member in grad school right now. ($1100 per month)

Edit: just called her to ask. she said the university website said credit and debit card payments would be fine, but the university charges 3% fee for credit or debit card payments. Is it worth it to pay the 3% fee in order to reach the $3000 spend requirement for new Hyatt credit card? $1100 x 3 months = $3300, so the 3% fee will be $99.

I use Plastiq. It's supposed to be a 2.5% fee but every single month they send me a promotion for a 1% fee on up to 3 payments of up to $10k each. So I pay $35 to get 3500 hyatt pts and 1.4 qual nights. I constantly redeem pts at 2c+ and the excess qual nights make globalist qualification easy and give me an extra 10k pts / $25k spent (0.4 pts/$) after I qualify, so this is a good deal for me. I seriously love this CC. The only "problem" with getting so many points is that it's going to delay my achievement of lifetime glob status (which is extremely valuable) by a few years.

However, at most buildings which are 100% rentals by a managment company, they do accept credit cards. I'm renting a condo from an owner though (technically an LLC but it's small and they are not set up to take CCs)

Edit: I just saw your edit. As I said, Plastiq is a 2.5% fee and they can pay them by ACH or by mailing a check. So you can do that instead of paying 3%. Personally I feel that putting spend on this card at a 2.5% fee is worth it to me but it is an extremely close call, and probably not worth it for most people. 3% seems like too much.

I'm chasing LT status as well. I really do wish Hyatt would count nights in addition to spend. Marriott and Hilton does!

If you have no other way, absolutely. Might be better off prepaying gas, electric, phone, internet, insurance, health club, whatever you gotta pay over the next few months anyway.

Health club is especially good due to the 2x pts.

But, again, remember, Plastiq charges 2.5% even when they have no promo, so that puts an absolute cap on the fee you should pay (assuming they accept checks or ACH). So, no, never pay 3%.

Also be sure to sign up with a referral code to get $500 in "fee free dollars" (ie, a savings of $12.50).

I just figured out how to meet the $3000 spend. Wont' be too hard just by paying off everything using the card.

Speaking of which, called Chase again and apparently "due to a technical issue" my new Hyatt card won't be shipped out until next Tuesday. What the.... In the mean time, Chase/Hyatt has already been bombarding my email account with all kinds of stuff... the emails even shows the last 4 digits of my new Hyatt credit card.... to bad I can't spend anything until the card actually shows up.
